australian open womens betting tips

We have expert betting predictions for the US Open Women’s Tennis quarterfinals, which are played on Wednesday and Thursday.

After stellar play over the last week and a half, the best eight players are left in the draw. We preview Brady vs. Putintseva, Osaka vs. Rogers, Azarenka vs. Mertens, and Pironkova vs. Williams.

All four games should be quality contests and we can’t wait for the quarterfinals action.

2020 Women’s US Open Quarterfinals Predictions

Jennifer Brady vs. Yulia Putintseva

Two unlikely players face off in the first women’s quarterfinal, which is expected to be a close contest.

Jennifer Brady caused an upset when beating Angelic Kerber in straight sets on Monday, and she has yet to drop a set from four games.

The 41st ranked player was expected to struggle in that game, but she scored a commanding win and now faced Julia Putintseva, who has had a harder road to the finals.

Putintseva dropped sets at her last two games, but she faced tough opponents and came out the other side.

Despite Putintseva winning both games against Brady throughout her career, bookmakers are siding with the American. She is the $1.28 favourite, and when there’s confidence, it usually pays to follow it.

Look for Brady to continue her dream run in the 2020 US Open.

Betting tip: Jennifer Brady to win ($1.28) @ Sportsbet.com.au

Naomi Osaka vs. Shelby Rogers

Naomi Osaka has had moments of worry during this US Open, but she looked good winning 2-0 in the round of 16.

The Japanese star has dropped two sets in four matches, but she took some time to get in the rhythm after so long off the scene.

Shelby Rogers didn’t take long to find her best form, scoring three straight-set wins to open her campaign. She then won 2-1 over Petra Kvitova, which is a classy performance.

The American has won all three matches against Osaka; however, all three wins were prior to Osaka being a household name.

Bookmakers Osaka as the $1.22 favourite, which is far too short. She doesn’t have much experience in Grand Slams and Rogers is no easy beat.

Take the value odds for Rogers, who’s experience could come into play under pressure.

Betting tip: Shelby Rogers to win ($4.33) @ Sportsbet.com.au

Victoria Azarenka vs. Elise Mertens

Victoria Azarenka is getting back to her form of old, after winning 2-1 against a tough opponent on Tuesday.

She was a set down but found her best game in the final two sets. She rarely made a mistake and that consistency should take her a long way in the quarterfinal against Mertens.

Elise Mertens was fantastic when beating #2 seed Sofia Kenin in straight sets. It was a dominant performance against one of the better power players on the tour.

She will be able to soak up the power shots from Azarenka with ease and keep firing back. Mertens is an underappreciated player, who has yet to drop a set in the US Open this season.

It is a tough game for punters to pick, because Azarenka at her best would win. She has the experience at the top level, but it has been a long road back.

They have yet to face each other, so it will be an interesting contrast of styles. However, there is a sense of fate for Azarenka, so stick with the former world #1.

Betting tip: Victoria Azarenka to win @ Sportsbet.com.au

Tsvetana Pironkova vs. Serena Williams

We are not sure how many lives Serena Williams has, but she’s used plenty of them at the 2020 US Open.

She looked down and out against Sloane Stephens, but powered back to win 2-1. It was a similar display against Maria Sakkari, but her class was too much for her opposition.

Williams hasn’t won a Grand Slam since becoming a mother, which is something that bugs her. She gets her best chance this season to finally nail the victory, and Pironkova shouldn’t stand in her way.

Pironkova was taken to three sets against Alize Cornet, who isn’t tough to beat this deep into a major tournament. It doesn’t instill much confidence, and she could get blasted off the court on Thursday.

Williams has won all four previous meetings, including consecutive straight-set victories. Those came in 2014 and 2015, but Williams hasn’t lost much since then.

Betting tip: Serena Williams to win ($1.18) @ Sportsbet.com.au
