Super Rugby Pacific Week 2 Tips

Friday 20/2/26
It’s hard to cover a –21.5 spread in Super Rugby, especially when the field should be wet from all the recent storms in the Wellington region.
It’s also hard to know what the Hurricanes will produce after getting the bye in the opening week, and the Pasifika come off a 40-26 upset win over the Fijian Drua.
That will give them confidence, and it could be a sloppy and close contest.

One of the more disappointing teams in Week 1 were the Drua, who were firm favourites against Moana Pasifika, where they allowed 40 points.
Based on that performance, we’re taking the Waratahs to win and cover the –13.5 spread. They scored a massive 36-12 win over the Reds last week, which wasn’t expected, and they have become the Australian team to beat.
With their confidence levels sky high, the ‘Tahs should have too much gas for a struggling Drua outfit.

Saturday 21/2/26
We tipped the Highlanders to cover the spread against the Crusaders last week, and they managed to pull off the upset.
It was a moral-building win for the struggling franchise, but the Chiefs come into Dunedin with a point to prove after struggling past the Blues last week.
There is a sizable class advantage with the Chiefs, and although the Highlanders did well last week, repeating that effort is always tough. Therefore, take the Chiefs to dominate, especially in the forward pack.

After losing 56-24 to the Brumbies last week, we’re taking a risk in backing the Force to cover the +8.5 spread against the Blues. However, the Force tend to play well in this situation.
The Blues aren’t the best team on the road, and they will be annoyed about losing a close game to the Chiefs last week, in which they looked to have in control.
Punters should expect a better defensive effort from the Force, who enjoy back-to-back games at HBF Park, and that should have a positive impact. The +8.5 line is generous enough to include the underdogs in our Super Rugby picks.

Sunday 22/2/26
The Brumbies did a good job when smashing the Force last week, and we’re not sure why they were only –5.5 favourites on that occasion.
Beating the Crusaders hasn’t been easy for them over the last few years, but the Crusaders lost their Week 1 clash against the Highlanders, and there could be trouble is paradise for the defending champions.
Punters should expect a close game at the new Christchurch stadium.
