Well, it was probably a much needed break for Wigan who have played a lot of footy this year and probably need a bit of time to wind down following their Challenge Cup triumph.

Leigh on the other hand haven’t been able to string together consistent performances chalking up a win over Catalans two weeks ago but then dropping their last match to Leeds who have been very inconsistent.

Hard to go past the World Club Champions in this one, even if John Asiata returns from injury for Leigh.

5:00am St Helens vs Castleford Tigers @ Totally Wicked Stadium, St Helens

St Helens were stunned two weeks back when Salford pipped them by two points in Salford.

I was anticipating a Saints strong run home into the playoffs following all the attention on Wigan’s Cup success, but they failed to launch against the Red Devils.

Castleford on the other hand have looked the goods in recent weeks losing by a field goal to Hull KR and then by two points to Wigan the week before.

5:00am Warrington Wolves vs Huddersfield Giants, Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington

Both sides have been a bit shaky since the completion of their Challenge Cup fixtures.

Warrington dropped a match to Salford and only beat Hull FC by six points in a tight contest a week later.

Huddersfield on the other hand have posted back to back loses against Catalans and Hull KR and look to be heading for the bottom four.

12:00am Leeds Rhinos vs London Broncos, AMT Headingly, Leeds

Leeds are coming off an inspiring win over Leigh in what was a celebration of the life of club legend Rob Burrow – a week after sacking Rohan Smith.

London on the other hand are continuing to battle at the bottom of the ladder but have suffered two wallopings from Wigan and Saints.

The last time these two sides met, Leeds won by a 38-point margin.

This is probably the most intriguing match of the round with Catalans in search of a win after dropping to sixth on the ladder.

Hull KR were lucky to escape defeat before the break with a one-point win over Castleford, whereas Catalans had a narrow four-point win over Huddersfield.

I expect this one will be tight.

12:00AM Salford Red Devils vs Hull FC @ Salford Stadium, Salford

You could argue both sides are in form by their season standards with Salford knocking off the Saints and Warrington back-to-back, while Hull FC posted a shock win over Leeds and fell by six points to Warrington.

Marc Sneyd is continuing to show why he deserves to be in the man of steel conversation and is a hard man to bet against.

I’m loving the improvement out of the black and whites and think this week will be a big test for them but just can’t see them matching Salford’s experience.
