All Blacks vs England Tips
Saturday 13/7/24
5:05pm All Blacks vs England @ Eden Park
England’s winless drought in New Zealand continued last week, but it gave the All Blacks plenty to think about.
England had the lead at one point in the second half, but the All Blacks battled back to win 16-15 in a tight opening contest.
Most of the money came for the All Blacks at –10.5, so they didn’t cover the spread, but we think they cover the –9.5 spread this Saturday night.
Eden Park is a fortress for New Zealand, and it’s essentially an automatic win. However, that doesn’t mean they’ll cover the spread.
The All Blacks always play their best rugby in Auckland, and they usually play rusty in their opening test of the season. That was the case last week, so expect to see the backline gel better with that game under their belt.
The forward pack was dominant, which wasn’t expected against a big England pack. The ball was often kept in the scrum to get a penalty, so that’s a tactic New Zealand will adopt.
Getting a –9.5 line is ideal. If it moves to –10.5, that can often make it tricky for rugby punters, so expect New Zealand to be much better in Game 2.
We would love to see Damian McKenzie come off the bench for the AB’s, and he might have more of an impact. However, if coach Scott Robertson chooses him to start, he should kick better than he did last week.
The –9.5 line has been backed into $1.87, so punters should jump on before the line moves throughout the week.
Betting tip: All Blacks –9.5 @ $1.87

All Blacks vs England Exotic Tips
The odds might be short, but we’re backing the All Blacks to lead at halftime and fulltime.
It pays $1.55 with the sportsbook, and it’s worth including in your rugby multi bets for this weekend’s action.
We also like Mark Telea to score the first try at much better odds. He proved to be a good try scoring bet in the first game, and the All Blacks winger is a try scoring machine.
Look for another cross-field kick form McKenzie, who could find Telea hiding in the corner for an easy try.
Bookmakers should have him around $8.50 to score first and $2.20 to score at any time, and those odds are worth snapping up.
We’re including All Blacks –4.5 at halftime in our picks. We think they’ll come out strong, and there could be plenty of tries in the opening half at Eden Park.
It’s a high scoring venue, so look for the home side to come out humming.
Betting tip: Mark Telea to score first @ $8.50
