The Storm might have numerous players good enough to win the Clive Churchill Medal, but everything runs through Munster, who plays with his heart on his sleeve. He was the primary reason for Queensland winning State of Origin, and he’s the main reason why the Storm have made the NRL Grand Final.

His ability to insert himself in the game throughout the 80 minutes is incredible, and he doesn’t go missing like other star players. Getting $6.50 is a great price from the sportsbook, and he’s only paying that because teammates Jahrome Hughes and Harry Grant are solid chances to win if they have standout performances.

However, if you’re backing a Storm player, Munster is top choice.

If Melbourne win and Munster doesn’t take out the Clive Churchill Medal, it’s likely going to Hughes.

The Storm playmaker made an incredible comeback from a broken arm just to play in the preliminary final, where he was at his brilliant best. He orchestrated many tries, and he’s still one of the best halves in the NRL.

If Hughes plays aggressively and attacks the line, he could split open the Broncos defence. We expect that to happen, and if Hughes has a couple of try assists, that’s all he’ll need to win the Clive Churchill Medal.

We must include one Brisbane player, in case the upset comes in. It would be easy to back Reece Walsh to win, but Ben Hunt needs the best game if the Broncos are any chance of winning.

Hunt’s experience in big games need to be called upon, and although he wasn’t fantastic in the win over the Panthers last week, he didn’t do much wrong either. A solid game from Hunt could be enough to win the Clive Churchill Medal, as the judges always give him credit for doing the unseen stuff.

All the talk is about the Storm’s insanely good backline, but Eliesa Katoa has been a one-man wrecking crew in the forwards.

The Storm wouldn’t be in the NRL Grand Final without their forwards giving them a good platform, and Katoa often goes under the radar for his hard work. He has silky skills for a forward, but he also puts in the hard yards, which could pay off.

Katoa will look to send a message to Payne Haas, and with a point to prove, he could produce his best game of the year. Despite forwards rarely winning the Clive Churchill Medal, we can’t leave Katoa out of our picks at the odds.
