Broncos vs. Eels Predictions

The NRL continues with Round 2 action between the Broncos vs. Eels on Thursday, March 12 at 8:00pm at Suncorp Stadium.

Last year’s NRL Premiership winners are heavy favourites to steady the ship after losing heavily in their opening round game.

Things didn’t go to plan for the Broncos last week, losing to the Panthers by 26 points. It was a dour effort, and it carried on from their poor effort in the World Club Challenge.

However, with that game under their belt, we expect the Broncos to be much better this week, and playing the Eels should be a recipe for success, with the Eels losing by 48 points to the Melbourne Storm last week.

It was a poor start from an Eels team searching for answers. Mitch Moses is a quality player, but he can’t do it all by himself, and losing Dylan Brown to the Knights could have a bigger impact than expected.

Covering a –12.5 line isn’t easy, but the Broncos can rack up points quickly, and it should be a one-sided contest.

Reece Walsh didn’t have a game to remember last week, but he was trying too hard. If he lets the game come to him naturally, he’s a much bigger threat, and we expect a big turn around this week. He’s a short $1.63 favourite to score a try, which is worth including in NRL same game multis.

Punters get better odds for Gehamat Shibasaki to score at $2.05. He has five tries from his last five games overall, and if the Eels defence doesn’t show up for a second week running, he should have ample opportunity to score.

That’s why we’re also including over 47.5 points. The Eels defence was in tatters against the Stom, and the Broncos are try-scoring freaks when they’re on song.

Gehamat Shibasaki 2+ Tries @ $5.90

Shibasaki has a knack of scoring two tries, and the NRL odds are too good to pass up.

He has two doubles from his last five games, and although he didn’t score last week, a different Broncos outfit is likely to turn up on Thursday.

We’re loving the $5.90, and we just hope Suncorp Stadium isn’t too wet, which will make it a running rugby contest.
