We backed United to win Game 1 at $2.67 and they got the job done for punters, but we’re changing teams for Game 2 on Wednesday.

United showed their finals experience when winning 96-88, but the Hawks were always going to need a game to settle down, and with that experience under their belt, they should come out with a better attitude in Game 2.

Melbourne didn’t have any big scorers in the opening game. Chris Goulding was kept in check, but it was a pure team effort. They don’t rely on one player to keep them in the game, especially as much as Illawarra, but the Hawks have strike weapons that can get hot.

We’re looking at Trey Kell and Tyler Harvey to lead the way. They were a touch disappointing at home, and a lack of finals experience showed. However, they’ll be better this time, and desperation is on the side of the Hawks.

Going down 0-2 to United in a best-of-five series would make it tough for the Hawks to win the NBL Championship. They need to win Game 2, and although desperation doesn’t always translate to wins, they’re well-coached and they should make the changes needed to win.

Punters get $2.18 for the Hawks to win after opening at $2.15, so there is value with NBL odds.

Our NBL Game 2 prop picks focus on the Hawks’ duo of Kell and Harvey, who could ignite on the road.

Kell is a $2.12 chance to score 20+ points and Harvey is $2.50, so we’re happy to back both. We expect at least 20 points from one of them, in particular Kell, so he’s well worth including in picks for the all-important game.

If you want a multi bet inclusion at short odds, they are $1.33 and $1.48 respectively to have 15+ points, which should be a carefree bet.

There is also good value for Harvey to make 3+ threes, which pays a healthy $1.86. Most of his points come from long range, and if the Hawks are to keep up with the consistent scoring of United, Harvey needs to get hot from outside.
