Team Giannis vs Team LeBron Prediction

There is so much star power for both teams, it can be tough to predict a winner.

Defence was usually put on the backburner for most of the game until the end, but given the new game format, it means the teams must play well throughout the 48-minute contest.

Bookmakers have Team LeBron at $1.63 to win and that’s too short in our opinion. Despite coming off a win in 2022 and having an excellent team, there is no real reason to back them at such a short price given the volatility of the All-Star Game.

On team LeBron is James, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Lauri Markkanen, and Ja Morant. It’s a very internationally-flavoured Team LeBron, who is without Zion Williamson and Steph Curry due to injuries.

We like the look of the team but question if Jokic and Markkanen are the types of players who will excel in this ‘showing off’ style of game that the Americans thrive in.

Team Giannis features Antetokounmpo, Donovan Mitchell, Jayson Tatum, Kyrie Irving, and Joel Embiid. We’re not sure how much game time Embiid will see after battling some injury concerns, but there are some pure shooters on their squad. Mitchell, Tatum, and Irving can get any shot they want at any time.

Our only worry about backing Team Giannis is the reserves list for Team LeBron is stacked with talent. It has the likes of Paul George, Damian Lillard, and De’Aaron Fox. However, the East has Jaylen Brown, DeMar DeRozan, and Jrue Holiday.

Team Giannis pays $2.25 with bookmakers and that’s too generous to pass up, especially for a game of this nature. It’s always wise to back the underdog in the All-Star Game and Antetokounmpo doesn’t lose often in life, so he could add another big win to his record.

NBA All-Star Game MVP

The NBA All-Star Game MVP market is an interesting one with James at the top of the market as expected. However, Lillard is the equal second favourite, so bookmakers expect him to come off the bench and have a field day.

There are many great players to choose from, but we’re taking the captain of the Eastern Conference. Antetokounmpo is the most electric player in the NBA and he could show off his massive variety of skills in the All-Star Game.

Whether it’s big dunks or shooting the three, he has what it takes to lead all scorers and take the MVP title. He also has defence on his side, so the judges could be looking at that.

He’s paying $8 to win MVP and he’s worth having on your ticket.

We also like Mitchell at $13. He is having a huge season with the Cleveland Cavaliers and he’s the type of player who wants to show off his skills in front of the world. We’re not saying he has an ego, but he is never shy of throwing down a statement dunk.

Mitchell could easily go for 40+ points and take the MVP title, so include him in selections at the generous odds.
