Bank Heist hasn’t been at his best this season, but we’re happy to give him another chance against a moderate maiden field.

The Ciaron Maher-trained gelding comes off a fifth at Gosford as a $2.70 favourite, so punters get better odds this time around.

Zac Lloyd is riding well, so we’re happy to include him in picks.

Race 2. (14:20) De Bortoli Wines Maiden (1000m)

#7 – National News @ $2.05

Big bets have come for National News, who opened at $2.45 before shortening into firm favouritism.

The three-year-old filly by Churchill comes off a good trial win at Wyong by three lengths, and she’s bred to be better than average.

The $2.05 could shorten to around $1.80 on race day.

Race 3. (14:55) Domeland Midway C1 (1350m)

#1 – Last Druid @ $2.60

Last Druid got back to good form with a second placing at Wyong last start, and he’s nearing a long overdue win.

The four-year-old son of Brazen Beau is only a one-time winner from 17 starts, but that win came at Wyong.

There is an odds-on favourite in the race, but he’s good enough to score a minor upset.

Race 4. (15:30) Carlton & United Breweries Maiden (1350m)

#6 – Rustemo @ $5.50

Boasting second placings at his last four starts is Rustemo, who could measure up to this level of racing.

The three-year-old son of Russian Revolution ran second at Scone before placing at Kempsey, and although there is more depth to this field, they were encouraging efforts.

$5.50 is a better price than we expected.

Race 5. (16:05) Gosford Air Heat of the Rising C1 (1100m)

#2 – Columbia Blue @ $2.10

Columbia Blue has the best exposed form in this race after running second at Randwick last time out.

The four-year-old son of Yes Yes Yes won at Hawkesbury two starts back, scoring easily by 2.5 lengths in a one-sided race.

Getting 2kg off his back only helps his chances, so he goes on top.

Race 6. (16:40) Abcoe Central Coast BM64 (1300m)

#3 – Lugarno @ $5.50

Looking to score fresh up is Lugarno, who owns a win and a placing from three fresh up starts.

The four-year-old son of Rubick has yet to finish worse than third in three starts at Wyong, so there is plenty of things in his favour.

After opening at $7, we’re not surprised to see his odds shorten.

Race 7. (17:15) Central Coast Community News BM68 (2100m)

#8 – Rhinestone Lad @ $9.50

Rhinestone Lad won well earlier this prep, and his efforts since have been good enough to handle this field.

The five-year-old son of Savabeel wasn’t far away when running third at Wyong and getting in with 55kg on his back is enough to take him close.

We’re happy to include him in picks against an even betting field.
