Wyong racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:20) Because We Care Boutique Maiden (1350m)
#3 – Twinkling Star @ $1.85
Twinkling Star runs at short odds, but they’re warranted after consecutive placings at Kembla Grange and Hawkesbury.
The three-year-old filly has been primed with a trial placing at Randwick, and getting the inside draw adds to her appeal.
Include the short odds in horse racing multis.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 2. (12:55) Westpac Rescue Helicopter Maiden (1350m)
#5 – Carnegie Hill @ $2.50
Despite being at $2.50 odds, Carnegie Hill isn’t the favourite, but he’s good enough to down Limburg.
The three-year-old son of I Am Invincible is bred to show early speed, and he could cap off consistent form with an overdue win.
His trials have been solid in prep for this race and getting 1.5kg off his back helps.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 3. (13:35) Northlakes Toukley Rotary Maiden (1100m)
#7 – Ninette @ $1.90
Looking to go one better than her debut second placing is Ninette, who was only 2.3 lengths behind a nice type.
The form out of that race should stack up nicely, and we’re not surprised by the shortening odds for the Hawkes-trained runner.
She’s worth including in multis on Thursday.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 4. (14:10) Iris Foundation Midway BM64 (1000m)
#3 – La Signora Dane @ $3.60
La Signora Dane is gunning for three consecutive wins after scoring at Canberra twice, and that form checks out well at Wyong.
The five-year-old mare by Star Witness owns four wins from seven starts, with all four wins coming over the distance.
She is fast enough to finish over the top of them.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 5. (14:50) Central Coast Kids in Need Maiden (1600m)
#6 – O Cara Mia @ $2.60
Looking to cap off consecutive second placings is O Cara Mia, who deserves a winning turn.
The three-year-old filly by Pierro didn’t handle the heavy track last start but she was still good enough to run second.
Getting the inside draw with 55.5kg on her back adds to her appeal.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 6. (15:25) Happy 90th Birthday Jean Langbridge BM64 (2100m)
#3 – Presley @ $5.00
Presley was too good for them at Newcastle in March before having a brief spell and coming back with two trial efforts.
The four-year-old gelding owns two wins and two placings from nine starts, and he has time to find cover from the wide draw.
The each-way odds make him a worthwhile bet.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 7. (16:05) Baking Association of Australia BM64 (1350m)
#6 – Tango Queen @ $8.00
Value is with Tango Queen, who has improved with every run this preparation, including a third placing at Newcastle.
The filly by Tivaci broke maidens with a win at Sale and coming to New South Wales could see her best form return.
We’re happy to take the risk at the odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 8. (16:40) Magic Millions BM64 (1350m)
#5 – Willie Oppa @ $4.80
Gunning for back-to-back wins is Willie Oppa, who finished over the top of them at Hawkesbury.
The Chris Waller-trained gelding was always going to need time to show his best, and the son of Fastnet Rock has breeding on his side.
He’s the loose favourite and worth including in picks.
Stake: 1.5 Units
