Bellabama has been right around the mark with two placings at Warrnambool, which are good form guides for this race.
The three-year-old filly by Alabama Express wasn’t far behind the winner over 1400m last start, so rising to the mile should be ideal.
She is worth a bet in the opening race.
Stake: 1.5 Units
The four-year-old mare showed good improvement when running third last start at Donald, which was a tidy effort behind Thinking Sensation.
We rate Donald form at this level, and the daughter of Magna Grecia has been heavily backed to score after opening at $8.
It’s a big betting move, so back her with confidence.
Stake: 1 Unit
Looking to score on debut is Gasoline Rainbow, who is bred to show early form at this level.
The three-year-old filly by Astern has looked good enough in recent jumpouts, and getting the inside draw is a big help.
Given the quality of this field, getting $15 is a good price.
Stake: 1 Unit
It’s not surprising to see money come for the Archibald-trained gelding, who has shown enough speed at the jumpouts to go close.
The three-year-old son of Zoustar is bred to win a few races, and this race looks like a good starting point for his career.
Barrier four should ensure a good run throughout.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Foragoodcause has been a model of consistency throughout his career, including five consecutive placings this preparation.
The four-year-old son of Toronado placed at Geelong two back before running a handy third at Warrnambool, and he doesn’t need to improve too much.
Having a strong rider in Dean Yendall riding is a big help.
Stake: 2 Units
The five-year-old gelding has enough ability to turn his form around, and he hasn’t been too far from scoring an overdue win this prep.
He ran second at Coleraine three back before finishing fourth at Donald in a higher grade, so the form checks out nicely.
He gets the inside draw and every chance to get back to winning form.
Stake: 1.5 Units
The former Kiwi runner is having her first start in Australia, and we think she’s slightly over the odds.
She opened at $17 before being backed into $11, which is a good move, and she has form around some nice enough types across the Tasman.
Barrier 18 isn’t ideal, but she has time to find cover.
Stake: 1 Unit
Boasting a win and two placings from five starts is Handy Friend, who is better for two runs this preparation.
The four-year-old son of Lean Mean Machine ran third at Kyneton fresh up before failing to fire at Seymour, but he was always going to need the runs under his belt.
Now is the time to strike, and it gives Will Gordon another good ride.
Stake: 1.5 Units
