Stradbroke Handicap Form Guide & Tips
(1) Private Eye ($16.00)
He’s the class runner of the field, and he won well two back, but we’re not sure if he’s ready for this race.
The odds agree with us, so leave him out.
(2) Rothfire (Best Roughie – $16.00)
Winning races hasn’t come easily for Rothfire, but James McDonald rides, and he went close when running second last start.
By all accounts he’s training well, and the odds are too good to pass up.
(3) Desert Lightning ($26.00)
The former Kiwi runner ran well for second last start, but this is a harder race, and he could struggle to keep up.
(4) Kimochi ($14.00)
She has only four wins, but with $2 million in the bank, she can’t be discounted. She is threatening to win, so we’re including her in our Stradbroke picks.
(5) Yellow Brick ($41.00)
His recent form has been a big departure from his best, and we need to see him run well before we pick him.
(6) Golden Mile (Best Each Way – $9.50)
His run for third behind Joliestar last week was excellent, and although being on the quick back up isn’t ideal, he’s a classy type.
He’s overdue a win, and punters get value each-way odds to enjoy.
(7) War Machine (Best Bet – $3.20)
There was a big boom around this runner early and he’s starting to put everything together now with consecutive wins.
His 2.8-length win at Doomben last start is a good form guide, and we’re not surprised by the odds given the light weight of 53kg.
(8) Payline ($46.00)
He rattled home when placing two back, but he was only ordinary last time out. He might be looking for something easier now.
(9) Punch Lane ($51.00)
Punch Lane couldn’t keep his winning run going last start, and he could struggle to win again.
(10) Front Page ($21.00)
It was good to see him win last time out, but barrier 20 could put an end to his winning chances. It will be tough to win from out there.
(11) Robusto ($31.00)
His form last preparation was solid, but running in the Stradbroke Handicap fresh up is about as hard as it gets.
(12) Far Too Easy ($34.00)
Second behind War Machine last start, but he was never a chance of winning. He could struggle against a deeper field.
(13) Rise at Dawn ($12.00)
The son of Almanzor has ability, and we’re happy to include him in picks at the odds. His best form is good enough to figure in the finish.
(14) The Instructor ($17.00)
A three-time winner already this preparation. It has been specked at each-way odds, and he could find his way into first four picks if you have enough room.
(15) Bosustow ($21.00)
An easy winner fresh up before running a touch short of his best last time out. It’s tough to know what he’s going to do, and $21 isn’t worth finding out the hard way.
(16) The Inflictor ($15.00)
Too good for them at Doomben last start but we question the strength of that field. Save him for another day.
(18) Spicy Martini ($35.00)
An upset winner last start but this is a different kettle of fish.
(19) Coleman ($81.00)
Backed and beaten for much of his career, and we’re not being fooled this time.
(20) Transatlantic ($21.00)
Running well this prep but he’ll be better suited to another race on the Eagle Farm card.
(21) Waterford ($81.00)
Only fair fresh up and the big odds are justified.
(22) Pier ($101.00)
The Kiwi never runs a bad race but running well in the Stradbroke could be beyond him.
(23) Warnie ($26.00)
Massive effort last start but he’s unlikely to get a run. Include in picks if he runs.
