Manawatu Sires’ Produce Form Guide & Tips
(1) Landlock ($4.80)
Landlock ran well for second last time out behind a smart unbeaten colt, and he was only a nose behind the winner.
It was a good effort in defeat and we’re not leaving him out of calculations in our Manawatu Sires’ Produce tips.
(2) To Bravery Born ($14.00)
The colt by Snitzel started his career with two wins before running fourth and third in some big races, so that form stacks up well.
There is a lot of depth in this field, and his stablemates are our top picks, so he’s a first four chance at best if you have room for another runner.
(3) Vega for Luck ($20.00)
He looked like a smart type early on, but he has found some big races slightly too tough.
Barrier three adds to his appeal but he might get stuck on the inside of runners, and that won’t be the place to be on Saturday.
(4) Pacific Breeze ($27.00)
The colt by North Pacific broke maidens with a good win last time out, but he would need to find a few lengths on that performance to take him close.
We think bookmakers have him at the right odds.
(5) Hostility (Best Each Way – $9.50)
There was plenty of hype for Hostility on debut, finishing second behind Tajana as a short odds-on favourite.
He was beaten but it was still a good debut effort, and he has been earmarked for big 2YO races all season. Therefore, we’re happy to include him in picks with NZ’s leading jockey Craig Grylls in the saddle.
(6) La Dorada (Best Bet – $2.50)
Boasting three wins from four starts, the two-year-old filly by Super Seth is the one to beat in the Manawatu Sires’ Produce.
She showed excellent speed to win last time out, and she has been beating quality fields, so the form stacks up beautifully.
When we started this article, she was paying $3.40, so the money has come thick and fast.
(7) Too Sweet ($15.00)
She showed good early form before running a disappointing race in the Karaka Million, and we’re not sure if she has recovered.
Barrier 13 could see her being caught wide, and that’s not the place to be.
(8) Intention ($27.00)
We have seen glimpses of talent with Intention, but we don’t think she’s good enough to win at Group 1 level.
(9) Tale of the Gypsy ($13.00)
A winner on debut before battling just behind the speed. She hasn’t been all that bad, and there is a nice win coming, but it’s unlikely to be on Saturday.
She would need a good trip into the race to have any chance in the straight.
(10) War Princess ($9.50)
Boasting an unbeaten record in the Central Districts is War Princess, and although she hasn’t faced much, she has been dominant.
We’re happy to include the filly by U S Navy Flag, who is untapped, and good enough to cause a minor upset.
(11) Born to be Royal (Best Roughie – $10.00)
Born to be Royal is another Te Akau-trained runner with a chance of winning. She has yet to win a race from two starts, but she has placed behind smart types.
Wiremu Pinn has been riding in great form recently, so that adds to our confidence.
(12) Tajana ($9.50)
She got the better of Hostility last time out, which is a good form guide. We expect her to settle forward, and having Sam Spratt riding helps.
She is worth including in first four picks, in what is a stellar and open betting field.
(13) Shameless Star ($35.00)
Shameless Star has yet to finish anything other than fourth, but that’s likely to change here.
