Inglis Sires’ Form Guide & Tips

(1) Rivellino (Best Each Way – $3.90)

Rivellino made good ground in the Golden Slipper, and he was one of the unluckier runners in the feature race.

His form prior included three excellent wins against top-level fields, so there is no reason why he can’t win, and the rise in distance only helps his chances.

(2) Wodeton (Best Bet – $2.80)

The favourite is another runner that will benefit over 1200m, and he often took too long to quicken over 1200m. However, 1400m is ideal, and he’s our top pick.

He is an expensive son of Wootton Bassett who won on debut and was made the Slipper favourite instantly. Despite having won since then, he put the writing on the wall last time out.

Ryan Moore takes over from James McDonald, which doesn’t deter our confidence.

(3) Vinrock ($5.50)

Vinrock is unbeaten from two starts in Melbourne, including a win at Flemington last time out.

He missed the biggest two-year-old races, so his form is tough to line up. However, he has a nice action, and that should take him close.

He’ll roll forward off the inside draw and kick strongly.

The colt by Ole Kirk comes off a win at The Valley, but we don’t think that form matches up well at Group 1 level.

He got the better of Chergui on a Valley track that was playing terribly, so we would prefer to see what he does in this race as a future guide.

(5) State Visit ($8.50)

He’s a first four chance based on his third placing behind Skyhook last start. Skyhook didn’t fire in the Slipper, but he should appreciate the rise in class.

State Visit is bred to be better than average, so include him at each-way odds.

(6) Buffalo ($21.00)

Looking to score consecutive wins is Buffalo, who got off the mark with a maiden win at Newcastle.

He won narrowly as an odds-on favourite, but he could be rising to Group 1 level much too soon, so we’re not including him in our Inglis Sires’ picks.

We like the way the John Sargent stable is performing in 2025, but we can’t envision Nordic Viking winning on Saturday.

The son of So You Think might be looking for 2000m+, so until then, we’re not including him.

The outsider of the field, and after running fifth on debut, we’re not surprisd. It would be a massive upset.

Another runner coming off a debut fifth. That came at Newcastle, so it wasn’t in a strong field. Little chance of causing an upset.

The filly by Zousain didn’t have all favours in the Slipper, which is the best form guide. We’re not worried by the wet tracks, so she’s worth including at the odds.=
