Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes Form Guide & Tips

(1) Another Wil (Best Each Way – $6.00)

We’re prepared to forgive his fresh up run, and he’s a three-time winner second-up. He has the class edge over this field, and the $6 odds are much better than expected.

(2) Here to Shock ($21.00)

Worth including at nice odds. He hit the line well enough last time out, and he could settle back and come with a sustained run.

We’re happy to include him in picks at the current odds.

(3) Pinstriped ($41.00)

The former Group 1 winner hasn’t been running well this year, and we can’t see that changing on Saturday.

(4) Airman ($23.00)

It’s hard to line up his form, but we’re unsure if he’s a genuine Group 1 performer. Happy to watch him this time around.

(5) Arkansaw Kid ($8.50)

Loved the way he found the rail last week before putting them away. Rising in class to Group 1 company though, which is a big rise in class. Happy to leave him out of our Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes picks.

(6) Feroce ($34.00)

Only a fair resuming run for sixth, and he might need more time to find his best form. Odds suggest as much.

(7) Zarastro ($21.00)

It’s tough to discount a consistent runner, but he might be outclassed by some of these. A late betting push would be telling, but it’s unlikely to happen.

(8) Port Lockroy ($71.00)

Disappointing this year and we can’t see him ever being a threat.

(9) Angel Capital (Best Bet – $3.70)

Making a big leap to open-class racing, but that was an impressive win last start. He owns a nice turn-of-foot, and he could quickly put them away with a good track into the race.

No surprises to see him come up as the favourite.

(10) Damask Rose (Best Roughie – $17.00)

The Kiwi star flashed home late for fifth fresh up, which was an excellent run. She will get back from the wide draw but watch for her to finish strongly.

If things go her way, the $17 odds could look like great value.

(11) Another Prophet ($71.00)

Not running well this preparation and it would take 5-6 lengths to see him go close.

(12) Is It Me ($41.00)

Disappointing in two runs back from a spell. He showed good form last prep, but in fields easier than this.

(13) Jennilala ($101.00)

A four-time winner fresh up, but those haven’t come at Group 1 level. The odds tell the story.

(14) Chorlton Lane ($46.00)

The former import isn’t up to this level of racing. Wait for something easier later this prep.

(15) Miss Roumbini ($14.00)

She typically goes under the radar, but we’re happy to include her in picks. Amassing a nice record, and her run behind Magic Time was good.

A good chance to boost payouts, and she’s an adaptable type.

(16) Sepals ($4.40)

He would have been close to our best bet had he not drawn barrier 16. We’re not sure what Craig Williams will do from out there, but he needs luck.

We’re not leaving him out, and if he wins from out wide, he’s a genuine superstar in the making.

(17) Zou Sensation ($23.00)

Drawn well but there are other runners with more speed. Save for another day.
