Scone horse racing tips
—
Money has come for Spicy Surprise, who wasn’t all that far away when running seventh at Scone last time out.
We expect the form out of that race to hold up well, and the three-year-old showed good speed when posting placings at Scone and Hawkesbury.
He’s good enough to break maidens against this field, so take the shorts.
Stake: 2.5 Units
The six-year-old has had only five career starts, so he’s lightly tried, and good enough to cause a minor upset at each-way odds.
He comes off a solid effort at Scone fresh up, but he was always going to need the run, and it’s good to see money come for him.
There isn’t much value with the $1.60 favourite, so take the $5.50.
Stake: 1 Unit
Insain Jewel showed good speed when winning on debut at Nowra, and although her efforts this prep have been only fair, she should appreciate this level of racing.
The three-year-old filly by Zousain is in good hands with the Archibalds, and that should make a difference in this race.
$3.20 is a fair price for the loose favourite.
Stake: 1.5 Units
She’s Got Teeth is better for recent racing, and the five-year-old mare by Holler should be fit and ready to fire.
She is only a two-time winner from 23 starts, but she ran second at Taree two starts ago, which is an ideal form guide for this race.
Barrier two is ideal, and punters get better odds than expected.
Stake: 1 Unit
Looking to remain unbeaten is Truce, who won by just under a length on debut at Scone.
The four-year-old mare by Epaulette sat on the speed before holding them off, and there’s no reason to believe that she won’t rise through the grades.
We recommend taking the $2.20 before more money comes for her.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Rodney Northam has a good record with his debut runners, and Rockabel Lad could make a fast start for the local stable.
The three-year-old son of Your Song ran third in a recent trial at Scone, and he doesn’t need to be a star to win this race.
Getting 2kg off his back is enough to take him close.
Stake: 1 Unit
Kate’s Tiara is getting close to posting another win after finishing second at Ipswich and Sunshine Coast, and Queensland form should hold up well.
The five-year-old mare by Hallowed Crown loves running on a good surface, and getting weight off her back is another positive.
Take the each-way odds available with bookies.
Stake: 1.5 Units
