Sandown racing tips
Missapprehend hasn’t been too far away in two career starts, and the money has come once again.
The Ciaron Maher-trained filly ran fifth as a $2.10 chance last time out at Cranbourne, but she is better for the experience under her belt.
Barrier three is ideal, and this is her best chance to break maidens.
Stake: 1.5 Units
The three-year-old filly by Toronado showed good pace when running a close second on debut at Werribee, and she could go one better.
She was beaten on the line by Tennessee Song last month, and although winning at Sandown is harder than Werribee, she could have a bright future.
Th $4.80 odds are worth including on an each-way basis.
Stake: 1 Unit
Yolo had the class advantage when winning at Seymour last time out, and he can take that form to Sandown and win again.
The Maher-trained gelding ran against some tough fields early in his career, and now that he’s scored another win, he could kick on with it.
Getting 2kg off his back is another positive, so put him on top.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Punters get each-way odds for Metallic Ruler, who is nearing his fifth career win after posting placings at Sandown and Cranbourne.
The five-year-old son of Capitalist finished 1.5 lengths behind the talented Regal Tycoon last start, so that’s an excellent form guide for this race.
We’re happy to include him in picks at the current price.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Consistency is with Global Eclipse, who comes off four consecutive placings this preparation.
The four-year-old son of Pierata owns a win and seven placings from nine starts, so he has only missed the money once.
That’s a good record, and he deserves another victory at each-way odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
There isn’t much between the two favourites, but we’re going with Tower Bridge to make it back-to-back wins.
The Mark Walker-trained colt by I Am Invincible sat handy before kicking away for a 3.5-length win at Geelong, which is an excellent form guide.
We expect the $2.90 to attract some interest, so take the opening odds.
Stake: 2 Units
Punters get value odds for Itsukushima, who comes off three consecutive second placings at Kilmore, Werribee, and Seymour.
The consistent six-year-old son of So You Think has yet to race at Sandown, which is surprising, but the longer straight should suit his chances.
Getting the inside draw with 2kg off his back makes the odds attractive.
Stake: 1 Unit
Fluent ran a good race for second behind Mercurial Lady at Sandown on Boxing Day, and that form bodes well for this contest.
The four-year-old mare is threatening to win a race, and having experience at the track only helps her chances of scoring an overdue win.
We recommend taking the $4 odds before money comes for him.
Stake: 1.5 Units
