Sale racing tips
—
Form is with Rogue Warrior, who has improved with every run, including a second placing at Werribee last time out.
The three-year-old son of Prague was only a length behind the winner, and having two runs under his belt this prep should be enough to take him close.
Barrier four is ideal, and he should be included in picks.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Areaan has been backed and beaten a few times throughout her career, and she has three second placings to her name.
The four-year-old daughter of Toronado comes off a second placing at Cranbourne, which is a good form guide for racing at Sale.
We’re happy to give her another chance.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Icaro has been settling back in the run and finishing off stylishly, and it’s only a matter of time before he wins a race.
The five-year-old son of Needs Further comes off three consecutive placings at Caulfield and Pakenham, and having form at Caulfield bodes well.
Getting 4kg off his back could be enough to get the maiden win out of the way.
Stake: 2 Units
Aliano started with a fourth on debut and the four-year-old gelding has improved by one position ever since.
He ran third at Pakenham before finding only one better at Sandown last start, and form from Sandown holds up well at Sale.
He gets all favours off the inside draw, and that could be the winning of the race.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Volatile was only seventh fresh up, but his form typically improves with a run under his belt.
The son of Snitzel is unbeaten in two attempts at Sale, and although his best form comes on dry ground, the conditions could improve on the weekend.
Include him in picks at each-way odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Consistent form is with Sun Gift, who owns three wins and seven second placings from 19 starts.
The five-year-old mare by Savabeel ran second at Caulfield behind Tempranillo last start, and form in the city is good for this level of racing.
59kg is a big weight, but class takes her close.
Stake: 1.5 Units
We have backed Impending War in both starts this prep, and although slightly disappointing, he doesn’t need to improve much to get back to winning form.
The three-year-old son of Impending won his first two starts at Wodonga and Swan Hill, and getting 3kg weight relief is a bonus.
We expect money to come for him, so include him in picks.
Stake: 2 Units
Looking to go one better than his fresh up placing is Thinking Gold, who ran well over 1600m at Pakenham.
That was a good fresh up effort having run second at Flemington over 2500m last preparation, which came behind Shockletz.
It’s good form for BM62 grade, so expect a top effort.
Stake: 2.5 Units
