It pays to take notice of a Chris Waller-trained runner with James McDonald riding, especially at big odds.
Angel Feet didn’t fire on debut at Newcastle when running seventh, but there is room for improvement, and McDonald doesn’t usually ride a runner with no chance of winning.
Take the odds in the opener as money could come for him late.
Stake: 1 Unit
We’re going with the Waller/McDonald combo again, and Inquistor has been much better backed than the runner in the first.
The two-year-old colt by Snitzel is bred to be quick, and his trial form has been solid enough, including a placing at Randwick.
It’s an open field, but his odds could firm on race day.
Stake: 2 Units
Punters get value odds for She Rex, who typically runs at shorter odds, and she’s good enough to handle this field.
The Ciaron Maher-trained filly owns five placing from five starts, and with Tim Clark in the saddle, she could head forward and be tough to run down.
Take the odds, considering she ran at $2 last time out.
Stake: 1 Unit
Gunning for back-to-back wins is Cruel Summer, who won at Canterbury in heavy conditions by 1.5 lengths.
It was a good return to form after showing little prior, but those runs came against harder fields, so midweek racing is more his go.
He likes the distance and the sting out of the surface only helps his chances.
Stake: 1.5 Units
The four-year-old mare is enjoying a good campaign with a win at Hawkesbury followed by placings at Randwick-Kensington and Warwick Farm.
The four-year-old mare by Hellbent has been well-backed after opening at $3, and it’s another premium ride for McDonald.
We expect more money to come for her on race day, so take the odds.
Stake: 2.5 Units
It was an overdue win for Maori Chief last start, and we’re not about to jump off his back now.
The Waller-trained three-year-old has plenty of ability, and it took him six runs to figure things out at Randwick-Kensington.
There is more depth to this field, but getting each-way odds is ideal for punters.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Value is with Lugarno, who showed good speed when winning fresh up at Wyong, and that’s the form guide we’re going with.
His last three starts at Rosehill, Hawkesbury, and Canterbury were only fair, but he’s good enough to bounce back to his best form.
3kg comes off his back, so we’re taking the risk and including him in picks.
Stake: 1 Unit
Looking to cap off consecutive placings is Tempranillo, who could give Waller another winner on Wednesday.
The three-year-old filly by The Autumn Sun was always going to need a few runs under her belt, and after placing at Newcastle twice, she’s ready to win.
Running in better conditions also helps her chances.
Stake: 1 Unit
It hasn’t been easy for Sydney Bowler to bounce back from an enforced layoff, but with four runs under his belt this prep, it’s now time to show something.
The son of Deep Field showed good speed when winning his first three races before spelling, and he only needs to get back to that form.
McDonald rides, which adds to our confidence.
Stake: 2 Units
