The three-year-old filly was only three lengths behind the winner, and we liked the way she ran through the line over 1300m.

Given the betting support, she should run well.

Race 3. (14:20) Willow Tree Cup Day BM58 (1000m)

#2 – Too Darn Lovely @ $2.90

Looking to cap off consecutive placings with a win is Too Darn Lovely, who has plenty of speed to burn.

The Scott Singleton-trained filly loves racing at Quirindi with two starts for a win and a placing, and she also has good stats over the distance.

Getting 2kg off helps, so look for her to push forward and be tough to catch.

Race 4. (14:55) Racing Mates Maiden (1200m)

Musumeci wasn’t too far away at Gunnedah last start when running fourth, and we’re picking him to improve on that effort.

The Brett Cavanough stable doesn’t usually take long to get their age-group runners to win, and punters get value each-way odds.

Look for him to improve and run in the top three.

Lord Protector kicked off last preparation with consecutive wins, so the four-year-old son of Savabeel could hit the ground running this prep.

He won at Moree and Quirindi, so having winning form on the track is ideal, and getting 1.5kg off his back only helps his chances.

The three-year-old filly hasn’t been far away at Armidale in two runs this campaign, and she might have needed the fitness under her belt.

We thought she would be around $5, so the odds are generous.

Looking to remain unbeaten is Calico Miss, who won at Quirindi by 2.8 lengths in fine fashion last month.

It was a good performance from the three-year-old daughter of Better Land, who ran a respectable time on a soft track.

Drawing wide isn’t ideal, but she is the one to beat.
