Queensland Derby Tips for Trifecta
Punters should have five runners on their ticket for the Queensland Derby trifecta. We recommend taking a boxed percentage trifecta. Spend what you want, and the payouts can be massive.
- Statuario
- King of Thunder
- Party Crasher
- Lavalier
- Femminile

Queensland Derby First-Four Tips
We have included seven runners for our Queensland Derby first-four. Boxing all six selections for a percentage can still result in a huge payout, and you spend what you want.
- Statuario
- King of Thunder
- Party Crasher
- Lavalier
- Femminile
- Belle Detelle
- Imperialist

Queensland Derby Form Guide & Tips
(1) Firm Agreement ($14.00)
He was disappointing last start and we’re unsure if she can bounce back. We’re happy to exclude him from picks based on that effort.
(2) Imperialist ($19.00)
His win in the Rough Habit Plate was good off the front, and that race is always a good form guide for the Queensland Derby.
Being able to lead and sustain pace is an asset most runners don’t have in this field.
(3) Statuario (Best Bet – $5.00)
The $5 odds for Statuario are worth snapping up. He’s a classy stayer with a turn-of-foot, which is good to have over 2400m.
He was beaten last start in Adelaide, but he travels beautifully, and we’re picking him to win.
(4) King of Thunder (Best Each Way – $8.50)
Punters get value odds for King of Thunder, who won well at Rosehill during the autumn, which is a good form guide.
The wide barrier doesn’t matter over this distance, so take the value odds from bookmakers.
(5) Beau Dazzler ($34.00)
He is better for two runs back from a spell, but he needed to show more last time out. The drifting odds are warranted.
(6) Lavalier ($13.00)
He looks to cap off three consecutive placings with a win, and she is good enough to figure in the finish.
He is only a one-time winner, but he is much better than his record suggests.
(7) Politely Dun ($21.00)
We stuck with Politely Dun last time out when winning at Flemington, but this is a different kettle of fish. However, he is a stayer and leaving him out at $21 odds could be a mistake.
(8) Deep Focus ($27.00)
There has been some support for Deep Focus, but we don’t think he’s up to this level of racing just yet.
(9) Our Benefactor ($34.00)
His form this preparation hasn’t been good enough to recommend, and we expect his odds to drift.
(10) Maison Louis ($20.00)
He is already a three-time winner this preparation, and there has been some betting moves for him. Based on his form, we’re happy to include him in our first four picks.
(11) Scintillante ($51.00)
Drawing barrier 19 isn’t ideal, and he could get too far back from there. He’s a solid type, but he might struggle to keep up.
(13) Party Crasher (Best Roughie – $12.00)
There is nothing wrong with his form, including a good win at Morphettville last time out.
He’s rising in class for this race, but the son of Ocean Park can handle it at nice odds.
(14) Rogan ($91.00)
He owns two wins from his last three starts, but this is a big rise in class, hence the massive odds.
(15) Existential Bob ($51.00)
It’s tough to overlook back-to-back wins, but we can’t see him winning at Group 1 level. The odds are big, but not big enough to entice us.
(16) Femminile ($8.50)
She got the better of Statuario last start, so we can’t leave her out. It’s not typically a fillies’ race, but she’s a tough customer with plenty of improvement to come.
(17) Belle Detelle ($7.00)
We’re happy to include her in our picks with James McDonald in the saddle. Her two wins earlier this prep are good form guides.
(18) Chase Your Dreams ($26.00)
She is a consistent type, but that form has come against easier opposition. We’re happy to leave her out.
(19) Eclair Encore ($51.00)
She is another consistent filly with upside. We would prefer to back her in something that’s not Group 1 level.
(20) The Muffin Man ($27.00)
The Muffin Man has been specked at odds after a good campaign, but he’s another runner that needs to lift to a new level. We’re not including him in picks.
(21) Liberty Park ($151.00)
Big odds are we’re not surprised. Little chance of winning this race.
(22) Prince Levi ($201.00)
Unlikely to get a run and unlikely to win either way.
(23) San Jose Boy ($201.00)
Solid form in easy races. No chance at this level.
