We have expert betting tips for the New Zealand racing cards this Saturday at Ellerslie and Riccarton.
There is always great value at the NZ horse racing meetings, and we have our best bets across the two cards.
Ellerslie racing tips
—
Money has come for Sword of Stars, who could continue the fine run of form for Te Akau.
The two-year-old filly by Sword of State is bred to show good form, and she comes off a solid trial placing at Te Awamutu.
Craig Grylls is the best Kiwi jockey and having her in the saddle helps.
Stake: 2 Units
Golden comes off a tidy performance for third behind Pacheco at Taupo, and this isn’t an overly strong field.
The five-year-old mare by Eminent owns two wins and four placings from 12 starts and getting in with only 55.5kg makes her tough to beat.
Warren Kennedy takes the ride, and having a strong rider on board is a bonus.
Stake: 1 Unit
Miss Parker is knocking on the door of a win after back-to-back placings at Avondale and Taupo.
The three-year-old filly is bred to be better than average and getting in with 55.5kg should make her tough to hold out.
It’s an even field, but she represents good value.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Master Faye didn’t fire at Ellerslie last time out, but up until then, he was a proven fresh up winner with two wins from two starts.
Despite finishing last in a field of eight, he was only 4.5 lengths behind Crocetti, so it wasn’t a bad performance at the top level.
This race is more to his liking, so put him on top.
Stake: 1.5 Units

Riccarton racing tips

Enchanted Delight is having his sixth start in her first preparation, but we’re trusting the stable to have her in good order.
The four-year-old mare ran third at Phar Lap three back before running two solid races, and she doesn’t need to improve too much on those efforts.
Given the odds, she is worth backing.
Stake: 1 Unit
Looking to improve on a debut third placing is One True King, who was a short margin behind the winner for Te Akau.
Seeing Opie Bosson in the saddle is a good indication, and that could be enough to see the three-year-old son of King’s Legacy win.
We recommend taking the odds before they shorten on race day.
Stake: 2 Units
Punters get only short odds for Out of the Blue, but he is worth including in horse racing multis this week.
The Te Akau gelding won on debut by two lengths, and he looked to have something in hand as a $1.50 favourite.
The odds are better here, and although it’s a harder field, he’s the one they must beat.
Stake: 4 Units
To Catch a Thief is about the best one-win horse in New Zealand, and getting $6 is a good price from bookmakers.
The five-year-old might not have the best form, but he has run behind the likes of Glamour Tycoon, Pericles, and You Say D’orsay.
We’re giving him one more chance to make an impression.
Stake: 1.5 Units
