We have expert betting tips for the New Zealand racing cards this Saturday at Ellerslie and Trentham.
There is always great value at the NZ horse racing meetings, and we have our best bets across the two cards.
Ellerslie racing tips
—
Judicial is a former Australian runner that looked good in a recent trial, and Australian form always stacks up well in New Zealand.
The Foote-trained three-year-old colt owns two wins from five starts, including wins at Ballarat and Cranbourne before running fourth at The Valley.
He’s going under the radar, but his trial was superb, so take the $3.10 odds.
Stake: 4.5 Units
Looking to win on debut is Ashoka, who has looked good at the trials with two wins and two placings.
The Tony Pike-trained two-year-old is bred to handle some moisture in the surface, and getting an inside draw helps.
We’re happy with the each-way odds available.
Stake: 1 Unit
Value is with Compulsory, who comes off four consecutive placings, including a placing at Ellerslie two back.
The six-year-old will need to navigate the wide draw, but he is good enough to find cover and come with a late run.
He’s worth including in picks at the odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Chur Nibble has made a nice start to his career with three placings from four starts, including a second placing at Ellerslie last start.
That is a good form guide for this race and dropping to 53.5kg with the 1kg coming off his back should take him close on Saturday.
Take the each-way odds as he should give punters a good sight.
Stake: 1.5 Units

Trentham racing tips
—
Yolo is getting close to posting a win after finishing second at Te Rapa last time out, which is a good form guide for this maiden hurdle.
The seven-year-old mare by Zed is bred to enjoy this race, and we’re not surprised by the short odds for the favourite.
She will be a popular pick with horse racing multis.
Stake: 2.5 Units
It’s never wise to bet against a Kevin Myers-trained jumper, and he could win in his jumps debut on Saturday.
The seven-year-old son of Sweynesse is a two-time winner at Trentham from only three starts, and running in heavy track conditions is ideal.
$2.90 is an excellent price, and he could shorten to favouritism.
Stake: 2 Units
Verry Flash is the worthy favourite following a win at Wanganui as a $1.90 favourite, and punters get better odds this time around.
The Myers-trained jumper owns four wins from eight starts over the hurdles, and he’s also a two-time winner at Trentham.
It’s not an easy field, but punters will get a good sight.
Stake: 1 Unit
The omen bet of the day is Alcaraz, who did well to run third at Trentham fresh up, and he’ll only improve with that run under his belt.
He owns five placings from 12 starts overall, and it’s never wise to look past well-backed Lisa Latta-trained runners.
We’re happy to include him in our picks at the odds.
Stake: 1.5 Units
