Ellerslie racing tips

#4 – Fastdeeldun @ $8.00

The Stephen Marsh stable is firing, and Fastdeeldun hasn’t had all favours in the run this season.

He owns a win and two placings from nine starts, and although his last three starts haven’t been ideal, this race is there for the taking.

Punters should expect quick improvement in the opening race.

Race 2. (10:55) Myracehorse Maiden (1600m)

#8 – Miss Parker @ $5.50

Miss Parker keeps finding one better after posting five second placings from eight starts, but she is worth another chance.

The three-year-old filly puts herself on the speed and gets run down late, but rising to the mile should make that tactic more favourable.

The odds are too good to pass up.

Race 3. (11:30) Trelawney Stud BM65 (1100m)

Panther is on the prowl following a maiden win, and there has been steady money come for him since markets opened.

The O’Sullivan/Scott-trained colt won by 1.3 lengths at Tauranga, and he’s showing enough promise to rise through the grades.

Rory Hutchings comes to ride, which adds to our confidence.

Race 4. (12:08) Colin Jillings 2YO Classic (1200m)

#1 – Harvey Wallbanger @ $2.10

We are big fans of Harvey Wallbanger, and he’s our best bet of the day this Saturday across the Tasman.

He has been desperately unlucky at his last two starts, and he arguably should have won both if things had gone his way.

He’s a very smart animal, and he shouldn’t need to rely on luck from barrier two.

Trentham racing tips

Race 1. (10:40) Harcourts Sprint Special Maiden (1200m)

#2 – Miss Jones @ $1.95

There will be a few multis running through Miss Jones, who comes off back-to-back wins at Ellerslie and Trentham.

The former Australia is a class above most of these, and she somehow gets into a special maiden race with two wins under her belt.

She’s our best bet on the Trentham card, so back her with confidence.

Race 2. (11:15) Stephanie Murray Mortgages 3YO (1200m)

#1 – Platinum Pantheon @ $4.60

Shooting for three consecutive wins is Platinum Pantheon, who won at Ashburton and Riccarton last time in work.

The Lisa Latta-trained colt has progressed nicely throughout his career, and he is good enough to return from a spell with a win.

Race 3. (11:50) Pak’nsave Upper Hutt BM65 (1400m)

Canasta looked good when winning fresh up last preparation, and she could repeat the dose this time around.

The four-year-old mare by Ace High has experience at Trentham when placing two back behind Coulthard in open company, which is a good form guide.

Jockey Jack Taplin takes 3kg off her back, so the odds are worth snapping up.

Race 4. (12:28) Harrisons Flooring Maiden (1600m)

#2 – Andahar @ $4.50

The four-year-old gelding broke maidens with a win at Ruakaka, and heading south won’t do his chances any harm.

He showed good toughness to get the job done, and it’s good to see the trainers head to Trentham in search of a suitable race.

His opening quote of $7 was taken quickly.
