Cheeky Devil won well three back at Rotorua before finishing not too far behind the winner at Trentham and Pukekohe.

The Laura Brennan-trained filly finished under a length from the winner last time out, and punters get each-way odds for this race.

Getting the inside draw could be all she needs to win.

Race 2. (11:14) Horses at Henley Park Special Maiden (1200m)

#1 – Miss Jones @ $2.20

Miss Jones was an excellent bet at Trentham last week and she didn’t let punters down, scoring by two lengths on her ear.

The former Australian runner is unbeaten in three starts since coming to New Zealand, and she gets Opie Bosson in the saddle.

59.5kg is tough, but she’s the testing material.

Race 3. (11:48) Peter Kelly Bayleys BM75 (2100m)

#2 – Levakia @ $6.50

Seeking back-to-back wins is Levakia, who grinded home to win at Pukekohe by just under a length.

The Kelso-trained mare owns four wins from 15 starts, so her winning strike rate is solid, and it’s an even betting field.

Soft track conditions are ideal, so she’s a good bet.

Race 4. (12:21) Legacy Lodge Waikato Guineas (2000m)

#14 – Single Red @ $5.00

Single Red is a strong Oaks contender for next month’s feature after winning at Te Rapa and Waverley.

The three-year-old filly by Vanbrugh hasn’t beaten anything special, but she is a progressive stayer in the making.

It’s a tough field, but she could be better than the rest.

Race 1. (9:45) Otago Classics Day Handicap (1500m)

#5 – American Cheval @ $5.00

American Cheval is better than what her recent form suggests, and she could capitalise against a moderate field on Saturday.

The five-year-old mare by American Pharoah is only a one-time winner, but the win came at Wingatui, which is ideal.

Include her in picks at each-way odds.

Race 2. (10:20) Lorraine Anderton Memorial Maiden (1400m)

Bakers Dozen wasn’t too far away in her southern debut when running fourth, and she has improvement to come.

The five-year-old mare by Time Test wasn’t too far away in two of her three runs up north, including a sixth at Pukekohe.

There isn’t much depth to this field, so she’s worth a bet.
