Mudgee racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:55) Mudgee Ladies Day Maiden (1400m)
#6 – Viktor
Viktor hasn’t been too far away from the mark this season, and this race is there for the taking.
The three-year-old son of Frankel is bred to be better than average, and it’s only a matter of time before he wins a race.
We’re happy to stick with him on Sunday.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 2. (13:30) XXXX Gold Silver Goblet 2YO (1100m)
#1 – Tom Vegas
Tom Vegas won well on debut at Bathurst by 1.8 lengths as a $51 chance, and it’s no surprise to see shorter odds for this race.
The two-year-old son of Peitzer showed a good turn-of-foot, and that’s always a good sign for age-group racing at Mudgee.
He’s the one to beat in a field of many unknowns.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 3. (14:05) Kristie’s Boutique BM58 (2000m)
#2 – Rufus Winright
Rufus Winright looked good when winning at Dubbo fresh up before placing last time out at Bathurst behind Extravagant Choice.
The five-year-old son of Odyssey Moon has yet to win at Mudgee from four starts, but he has been close with two placings.
Getting the inside draw is enough to see him win.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (14:40) Yves Premium Cuvee Maiden (1200m)
#4 – Carrick
Carrick showed good improvement to run second at Bathurst last time out, and there was good money for him.
The three-year-old son of Shamus Award showed nothing from his first two starts, but the spell did him plenty of good.
We expect him to be right around the mark against this field.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 5. (15:20) Gooree Park BM82 (1400m)
#1 – Lockdown Gamble
Lockdown Gamble ran third at Mudgee fresh up, which is a good form guide for this race.
The seven-year-old son of Casino Prince owns six wins from 28 starts, and it’s only the big weight that would stop him in this race.
Look for each-way odds on race day.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 6. (16:00) The Oasis Mudgee C3 (1100m)
#4 – Miss Rebel
Miss Rebel wasn’t far away at Randwick last start, and this is a fair drop in class.
The five-year-old mare owns two wins and four placings from nine starts, and she has yet to finish worse than second over the distance.
She’s the one to beat, so take the odds.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 7. (16:40) Mudgee Florist C2 (1400m)
#2 – Never a Doubt
Looking to score consecutive wins is Never a Doubt, who won at Kyneton, and he comes to a different stable now.
The three-year-old gelding was with the Kennewell stables and now he’s with Cameron Crockett, which adds to his appeal.
Barrier five is ideal, and he’s worth including in picks.
Stake: 1 Unit
