Moruya racing tips
—
Race 1. (13:35) Daniel Ick Memorial Maiden (1200m)
#13 – Show Rhythm @ $2.20
Show Rhythm ran second on debut at Queanbeyan and she’s a good chance to go one better.
The three-year-old filly by Showtime was a length behind the winner as a $14.00 chance, and we’re not surprised by the shortening odds.
She gives punters a good chance of winning the opener.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 2. (14:10) Adelaide Hotel Moruya C1 (1425m)
#4 – Puntin @ $1.85
Puntin won well on debut at Nowra as a $2.05 chance, and punters get short odds for the favourite.
The three-year-old son of Super Seth will need a touch of luck from a wide draw, but the Bjorn Baker stable is firing on all cylinders.
Take the odds before the odds continue to shorten.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 3. (14:45) Team Thorotek BM58 (1010m)
#2 – Selhurst Park @ $8.00
Looking to continue his impressive fresh up form is Selhurst Park, who owns a win and three placings from six starts.
The six-year-old son of Not a Single Doubt is an experienced type with a win and seven placings at Moruya, so the form checks out.
Getting 4kg off his back should take him close.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 4. (15:20) Moruya Golf Club C3 (1650m)
#4 – Vermicella @ $5.00
Vermicella started her career with consecutive wins before finishing third last time out, and there’s nothing wrong with that form.
The four-year-old mare by Pierro has done all her racing at Queanbeyan, but racing at Moruya isn’t too much different.
She’s good enough to upset the short-price favourite.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 5. (15:55) Pretty View Retreat Maiden (1010m)
#2 – Century Song @ $2.60
Century Song ran second on debut at Kembla Grange in heavy conditions, and getting better track conditions will help.
The three-year-old gelding by Microphone has since won a trial at Kembla Grange by 1.5 lengths, so he looks ready to fire a shot.
We expect money to come for him late in the piece.
Stake: 4 Units
Race 6. (16.30) Moruya Showcase Town Plate (1200m)
#4 – Fine Vintage @ $4.00
A winner fresh up at Albury, we’re backing Fine Vintage to get back to winning form on Monday.
The Luke Pepper-trained five-year-old is a five-time winner from 16 starts, which is a good winning clip, and he could add to it.
We’re loving the each-way odds available from bookmakers.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 7. (17:05) North Ryde RSL Showcase Cup (1425m)
#11 – Toes in the Water @ $4.20
Set for a win is Toes in the Water, who ran second at Kembla Grange last time out as a $15.00 chance.
The four-year-old mare by Maurice owns four wins and four placings from 14 starts, including two wins over the distance.
Dropping to 52.5kg makes her very tough to beat.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 8. (17:40) AMH Auto Group C3 (1200m)
#2 – Twin Telepathy @ $3.00
Twin Telepathy is gunning for three consecutive wins after winning at Queanbeyan and Nowra, with the latest win coming by 2.5 lengths.
The four-year-old son of I Am Invincible ran at $1.50 odds last time out, so punters get double the value, and he’s good enough to beat this field.
Take the odds as he’ll likely start shorter.
Stake: 4 Units
