Livamol Classic Form Guide & Tips
(1) El Vencedor (Best Bet – $3.70)
El Vencedor returns to Ellerslie, where he owns five wins from seven starts, and this is his pet distance.
His run in Hong Kong wasn’t flash, but Mr Brighside suffered the same fate, so we’re happy to give him another chance.
The odds are warranted, so put him on top.
(2) Waitak ($3.70)
He won the second leg of the Triple Crown in fine style, but stretching out to this distance could be tough. He’s a Railway winner over 1200m, so 2040m makes for an interesting race.
The odds are on the shorter side of value, but there is good market confidence, so we’re not leaving him out.
(3) Ladies Man ($5.00)
Ladies Man has been right around the mark this season without winning, and with his owner recently passing, it would make for a good story.
He is a proven winner at Group 1 level, and although he prefers a firmer surface, there is plenty of sun around in Auckland this week.
He’s another runner worth including in Livamol Classic picks.
(4) Sharp ‘N’ Smart (Best Roughie – $23.00)
The two-time Derby winner hasn’t been at his best since winning both sides of the Tasman, but he gets one more chance.
He could benefit from plenty of early speed, and although his Melbourne Cup aspirations are all but done, he could figure in the finish at odds.
(5) Khan Hunter ($61.00)
We can’t see him improving enough to beat this field. Most of his best form has come against much easier fields.
(6) Aftermath ($51.00)
It was a good effort to run second last start, but much like many longshots in this race, his form hasn’t been at Group 1 level.
(7) Solidify ($51.00)
He showed good early speed when heading to Australia, but he looks like a tired horse.
(8) Spanish Lad ($61.00)
He’s another runner that could be out of his depth. Scored back-to-back wins earlier this prep, but he’s more of a winter type.
(9) Legarto ($6.00)
Always dangerous, so we’re not leaving her out. She hasn’t been at her brilliant best this season, but after two runs this prep, it’s about time she showed her lethal turn-of-foot.
She has good form at Ellerslie with a win and three placings, and if there is good pace up front, she could flash home late.
(10) Quintessa (Best Each Way – $6.50)
Her win in the first leg was incredible before being scratched in the Howden Insurance Mile. If she’s anywhere near that run, she could finish over the top again.
She’s a mare that has always promised to deliver at the top level, and with a recent Group 1 win under her belt, she demands attenton at $6.5.
(11) Hi Yo Sass Bomb ($19.00)
She comes off a tough win, but that came at a level below this. We think the odds are a touch short.
