Lismore racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:34) XXXX Gold Country Maiden (1526m)
#7 – Three Graces @ $2.20
Money is with Three Graces, who looks to cap off consistent form with an overdue win.
The five-year-old daughter of Sebring ran second at Murwillumbah last time out, and she has since placed in a trial.
Barrier three is ideal and the odds are justified.
Stake: 3.5 Units
Race 2. (13:09) Oatens C1 (2110m)
#9 – Pleadeel @ $2.90
Pleadeel isn’t having the most consistent preparation, but we’re prepared to give the five-year-old mare another chance.
The daughter of Dundeel ran second at Doomben two back before finishing seventh behind Fleur Du Monde.
This race is much easier, so the drop in class works in her favour.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 3. (13:44) O’Brien Electrical & Plumbing BM82 (2110m)
#2 – Classic Deal @ $3.40
We’re happy to stick with Classic Deel, who didn’t fire last time out at Doomben, but her two placings prior are better form guides.
The six-year-old daughter of Dundeel has yet to finish worse than second in two starts over the distance, so dropping back to 2110m is ideal.
Include her in selections with a small wager.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 4. (14:19) Lismore Workers Club Maiden (1210m)
#9 – Airswing @ $5.00
Airswing needs luck from the wide barrier draw, but we expect a tidy effort at each-way odds.
The three-year-old son of Trapeze Artist has trialed well for his return, including a win at Deagon and a placing at Beaumont.
Having Andrew Mallyon in the saddle helps his chances.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 5. (14:54) Bennett Constructions C1 (1210m)
#1 – Immortality @ $3.80
Immortality struggled at Doomben last time out, but the five-year-old should enjoy this level of racing.
The son of I Am Invincible owns a win and four placings from 12 starts, and he ran second at his only start at Lismore.
Getting 1.5kg off his back adds to his appeal.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 6. (15:29) Global Lubricants Showcase Sprint (1210m)
#4 – Majorelle @ $2.80
Majorelle knows how to win after posting seven wins from 18 starts, including a good win at Lismore as a $1.24 chance last start.
The five-year-old son of Zoustar is unbeaten in three runs on the track, and he’s easily good enough to handle this level of opposition.
Dropping to 54.5kg should make him tough to beat.
Stake: 4 Units
Race 7. (16:09) Rodney Lees Cabinetmaking Lismore Cup (1526m)
#9 – Genetic Freak @ $7.00
Genetic Freak is already a two-time winner this preparation, including last time out at Ipswich.
The five-year-old will need to cope with the rise in class, but he’s a nice type on his day, and getting into the race with 54kg on his back helps.
We’re taking the each-way odds against an even field.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 8. (16:49) Pak Vending Country BM58 (1310m)
#2 – Super Jaie @ $6.50
Super Jaie comes off consecutive wins at Kempsey and Coffs Harbour, and his win at Coffs was a nice effort.
The four-year-old son of Super One gets some weight relief with a 1.5kg claimer, and there are no superstars in this field.
The odds are worth taking in the last.
Stake: 1.5 Units
