Helioson has been well-backed to win on debut after two moderate trials, which suggests that he wasn’t asked for much in those trials.
The three-year-old son of The Autumn Sun comes off a seventh at the Caulfield trials, but being from the Payne stable and seeing a betting move is a good sign.
Include him in picks before his odds shorten.
Stake: 1 Unit
Each-way odds are with Jenni the Tank, who hasn’t been far away in two starts this preparation, including a third placing at Swan Hill.
Something close to that effort should be good enough to beat this field, and the Shane Jackson-trained mare doesn’t mind rain-affected tracks.
She is likely to enjoy the drop in distance after running over 4000m.
Stake: 1 Unit
Bold Bordeaux was scratched from racing on Sunday, and the Hayes stable found a winnable maiden race for him.
The three-year-old son of Brazen Beau is bred to be better than average, and he comes off a tidy trial win at Caulfield. That should be a good form guide for racing at Kyneton on a Tuesday.
Mick Dee rides, so that’s another positive.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Looking to bounce back following a tough debut run at Group 3 level at Flemington is Desert Falcon, who dropped out to finish 28 lengths behind the winner.
It was an ambitious target from the Brent Stanley stable, but she wasn’t far away in a recent trial at Donald, and this level of racing is where she should be.
We’re happy to give her a chance at the odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Areean finished second at Bendigo last preparation before spelling, and she’s quick enough to post her maiden win here.
The four-year-old mare by Toronado has threatened to win a race after two placings from five starts, and punters get healthy each-way odds.
We recommend taking the odds as late money could come for her.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Hustle got back to her best form with a second placing last start, and although that wasn’t a tough field, it should five her confidence.
She owns a win and three placings from seven starts, and getting weight off her back is enough to see her score an overdue win.
She was good enough to run at Flemington last prep, so take the $6 odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
The Negotiator has competed at much higher levels than BM56, and although he’s lumped with a big weight, he should be tough to beat.
He comes off a third placing at Kilmore behind Hello Mary, and slight improvement is enough to get the job done on Tuesday.
We’re happy with the each-way odds available.
Stake: 2 Units
Gunning for consecutive wins is Giant’s Reprieve, who won at Wangaratta by 1.5 lengths to exit maidens.
The four-year-old son of Foxwedge only has improvement to come, and getting 2kg off his back helps with the big weight.
It’s a wide-open field, so the $6 odds are a good price.
Stake: 1.5 Units
A bounce back is likely for Self Serve, who couldn’t muster at Morphettville, but her form at Warrnambool and Mornington was much better.
The four-year-old mare by Ocean Park should get all favours off the inside draw, and her opening $4.80 odds have firmed nicely.
We expect a tidy effort, so take the odds available.
Stake: 2 Units
