Kempsey racing tips
—
Race 1. (14:10) Akubra Hats BM58 (1900m)
#3 – Nothing’s Sacred @ $2.70
Nothing’s Sacred comes off a win at Mudgee by three lengths, which is an excellent form guide for this race.
The seven-year-old gelding by Sacred Falls has enough experience to handle this field and he’s much better than a three-win type.
Money is coming for him and he could start much shorter.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 2. (14:45) Harcourts Kempsey Maiden (1250m)
#4 – Prince of Prophets @ $2.10
Prince of Prophets went close to winning when second at Grafton fresh up, finishing just a half-length behind the winner.
The four-year-old gelding by Divine Prophet ran much better than his form last preparation, and we’re not surprised by the money coming for him.
Take the $2.10 before more money comes for him.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 3. (15:20) Crescent Head Real Estate Maiden (1450m)
#10 – Rock the Machine @ $3.70
Rock the Machine has yet to win or place from six starts, but it’s only a matter of time before he produces the goods.
The three-year-old gelding by Duporth comes off a fourth at Grafton in heavy conditions, but he doesn’t mind running on good surfaces.
After opening at $4.80, money has come thick and fast for the favourite.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 4. (15:55) Seabreeze Hotel South West Maiden (1000m)
#1 – Craig’s One @ $3.10
Craig’s One is on debut for Glen Milligan after showing good trial form, including a win at Taree.
The four-year-old son of Super One wasn’t far away in a recent trial at Taree when finishing second, so there is plenty of upside.
Barrier 13 on debut isn’t easy, so he only needs some luck to go close.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 5. (16:35) Peter Ball Memorial BM66 (1000m)
#2 – Heir Apparent @ $4.20
Heir Apparent is a two-time winner this preparation, including two back at Kempsey, and that’s the best form guide for this race.
The six-year-old son of Cable Bay wasn’t far away when second last time out at Coffs Harbour and getting weight off his back helps.
Punters get each-way odds to snap up, which is good value.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 6. (17:15) Crystalite BM58 (1450m)
#8 – Hypothermia @ $6.00
Hypothermia owns two wins from her last three starts, including a good win at Grafton last time out.
The four-year-old mare by Frosted won by just under a length in soft conditions and her form is good enough on good tracks to feature.
Getting $6.00 is a price we can’t overlook, so include her in picks.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 7. (17:55) Kempsey Macleay RSL C1 (1250m)
#2 – Calido Magic @ $2.70
Seeking consecutive wins is Calido Magic, who won by a nose at Taree and it was a good driving finish.
The three-year-old son of Supido hasn’t been too far away from the mark throughout his career, including a win and three placings from six starts.
Barrier three is ideal and the odds are shortening.
Stake: 3 Units
