Hong Kong Mile Form Guide & Tips
(1) Soul Rush ($9.00)
His form this preparation has been good without winning, and he only needs some luck from a wide draw to figure in the finish.
We expect the Japanese runners to have a big say on Sunday, and he could be one of them.
(2) Voyage Bubble (Best Bet – $4.20)
Running second behind Romantic Warrior is the best form guide for the Hong Kong Mile, and being an 11-time winner at Sha Tin helps.
We believe he’s the best of the local runners, and the each-way odds is a fair price from bookmakers.
(3) Docklands ($51.00)
It has been an interesting year for the well-travelled Docklands. He won in Europe with Mark Zahra on board, but he didn’t fire a shot last time out in Japan.
Based on that effort, we can’t include him in our Hong Kong Mile picks.
(4) Beauty Joy ($101.00)
He ran well for third fresh up, but his form has tapered off considerably. We can’t recommend backing him at long odds.
(5) Galaxy Patch ($4.20)
He scored a half-length win over Sunlight Power last start, so we can’t leave him out of our picks.
His best form is good enough to win at the top level, which is reflected in betting markets, and having James McDonald riding helps.
Respect any money coming for him on race day.
(6) Beauvatier ($34.00)
His form in Europe is solid enough, but racing in Hong Kong is a different beast. They might run it too hard for him, and he could be left wanting at the top of the straight.
(7) Happy Together ($17.00)
The six-year-old hasn’t been too far away from the prize this season, including a third behind Galaxy Patch last start.
It’s solid enough form to see him included in first four picks.
(8) Red Lion ($151.00)
We can’t recommend him based on his two disappointing efforts this prep. He needs more time.
(9) Sunlight Power (Best Roughie – $11.00)
The son of Capitalist comes off a gutsy second placing behind Galaxy Patch, and that should be a good form guide.
He will need to find a length to win this race, but he has more improvement to come this campaign than most in this field.
(10) My Wish (Best Each Way – $4.20)
He was the beaten $1.40 favourite last start, which followed back-to-back wins. However, he’s good enough to bounce back and win.
Most of his best form has come at Group 2 and 3 level, but he’s ready to take the next step at the International Meeting.
(11) Copartner Prance ($51.00)
Placed behind My Wish in consecutive starts before running sixth last time out. Not the worst in this race, but the level of competition could be too high.
(12) Patch of Theta ($51.00)
He’s better for two runs back from a spell, but he would still need to find a few lengths. We can’t see that happening.
(13) The Lion in Winter ($34.00)
It’s tough to rule out an Aiden O’Brien-trained runner, but we haven’t found room for him. He’s not suited at the weights in Hong Kong, but punters could see him at Flemington on the first Tuesday of November next year.
(14) Embroidery ($8.00)
Five wins from eight starts for the Japanese runner. Resumed this prep with a Group 1 win at Kyoto, and something similar could take her close.
She is an interesting filly, and with 55kg on her back, she could figure in the finish.
(15) Pray for Mir ($201.00)
An emergency runner who is unlikely to get a run. Little chance of winning either way.
