Hong Kong Cup Form Guide & Tips
(1) Romantic Warrior (Best Bet – $1.06)
The Hong Kong champion returned to his best form when blitzing the field fresh up, and it was a good way to get his campaign started.
He suffered two losses when heading to the Middle East, but he lost no admirers when being beaten by Forever Young and Soul Rush.
He is one of the best thoroughbreds in the world, and we believe only one runner will get close to him.
(2) Bellagio Opera (Best Each Way – $4.60)
The biggest danger to the favourite, hence the odds. The Japanese runners are trained to the minute, and his win in April was a good display of running.
He wasn’t far away in his only run since when finishing second, and he comes into this fresh and ready to fire.
Take him to run the quinella with the favourite.
(3) Rousham Park ($71.00)
His efforts either side of a spell have been poor, but he’ll secure himself a top seven finish at worst. We would be surprised if he finished in the first four.
(4) Galen ($61.00)
A consistent runner, but most of his recent form has come against much easier fields. This is a massive rise in class, and we can’t see him handling it.
(5) Straight Aaron ($34.00)
A first four chance for the locals. He comes off back-to-back fourths behind My Wish and Romantic Warrior, and the small field suits.
Getting the inside draw is another positive, and although we can’t see him winning, a top four finish is well within his reach.
(6) Chancheng Glory ($151.00)
He has shown little in two runs back from a spell, hence the massive odds. He’s expected to finish at the tail of the field, and anything better than that is a good run.
(7) Quisisana (Best Roughie – $41.00)
The French mare could offer punters with a bit of value. She ran third at Group 1 level last start at Ascot, and that form could measure up.
Winning seems unlikely, but a top four finish is well within her capabilities.
