Golden Eagle Form Guide & Tips
(1) Southport Tycoon ($13.00)
A big Group 1 winner two back and it ran on well to place last time out. The odds make it worth including in first four picks.
(2) Veight ($41.00)
Disappointing in two starts this preparation, and he hasn’t come back as an older horse.
(3) Tom Kitten (Best Roughie – $11.00)
Always around the mark and we’re happy to include him in our picks. He made good ground behind Ceolwulf last start, and that’s a good form guide.
The odds available are good each-way value.
(4) Ostraka ($20.00)
He pinged the gates when winning his fourth straight win last start. However, there is more depth to this field, and he could struggle to keep up.
(5) Griff ($71.00)
Yet to do anything since his age-group days and he would need to improve out of sight to beat this field.
(6) Encap ($17.00)
Liked his win two back and he’s always putting himself in the firing line. Dangerous to leave out, but we’re opting to at his current odds.
(7) Xidaki ($51.00)
Only a three-time winner, and although he’s not the worst in the field, we’re surprised he’s in the field.
(8) Chrysaor ($71.00)
Didn’t fire a shot last time out behind Ceolwulf. Hard to see that form improving enough to turn the tables.
(9) Kintyre ($81.00)
Never too far away from the mark, but he has been facing slightly easier fields. Odds tell the story.
(10) War Machine ($46.00)
We are happy to include the promising type in our picks at the price. Third behind Ostraka last start, but it was the run of something going forward.
(11) Port Lockroy ($126.00)
Not running well enough to keep up with this field, hence the triple figure odds.
(12) Lazzat (Best Each Way – $6.00)
The French runner is unbeaten after six starts, and although he’s having his first start in Australia, we’re backing him to win.
French form lines up well and we’re happy with the odds available with bookmakers.
(13) Craig ($19.00)
Eight starts for three wins and five placings, so there is nothing wrong with his form at this level.
Comes from Melbourne, and he might need to find a couple of lengths to beat this top-level field.
(14) Lake Forest ($26.00)
A European with good form, but it’s tough to line up. Form has been over 1200m, so this is a rise in distance and class.
(15) Stefi Magnetica ($10.00)
Ninth in The Everest and it never looked like a winning hope. Might enjoy the rise in distance, and it’s a strong finisher.
Worth including in multiples and its odds are shortening.
(16) Joliestar (Best Bet – $5.50)
Hit the line nicely in The Everest and it was always going to be better with more time under her belt this preparation.
She’s a smart type in the making and this is her race to lose, and having Kerrin McEvoy riding doesn’t hurt her chances.
(17) Makarena ($46.00)
Not the worst form this season but we can’t find room for her. She would need to run out of her skin.
(18) Skybird ($46.00)
She gets back in her races and finishes off well, but this is too hard.
(19) Ascoli Piceno ($5.00)
Another imported runner that has a good winning chance. Japanese runners are tough, so she can’t be left out.
Follow any positive betting moves on race day.
(20) Corazon Beat ($51.00)
A Japanese runner that doesn’t have as good form as Ascoli Piceno. Can’t see her winning.
