George Ryder Stakes Form Guide & Tips

(1) Gringotts (Best Roughie – $20.00)

He might have finished ninth behind Joliestar last time out, but there was a lot to like about that performance.

The distance was short of his best, and he hit the line with authority. He’s also the defending champion of this race, so we can’t understand the odds.

Snap up the odds, and $3 to place is a value bet.

(2) Pericles ($15.00)

Nothing wrong with his Group 1 win in Melbourne, and he’s a two-time winner at Rosehill.

Another runner paying good odds to figure in the finish, and he’s a strong trifecta and first four inclusion.

(3) Evaporate ($19.00)

As tough as they come, but he doesn’t win all that often at the top level. Battled well behind Tom Kitten last start, and that should be a good form guide.

From the barrier, he should settle handy, and if the track suits front runners, he could battle on for a top four spot.

(4) Headley Grange ($35.00)

A nice enough type on his day, but this level of racing is a touch too tough. We would prefer to back him later in the autumn.

(5) Yorkshire ($51.00)

Liked the way he ended last campaign with consecutive wins, and his fresh up fifth was a nice enough effort. However, the George Ryder Stakes could be a step too far.

The odds reflect his chances, but an improved effort wouldn’t surprise.

(6) Linebacker ($31.00)

It’s almost impossible to know what he’ll produce. Not a bad run for seventh last time out but rising in distance might not suit him.

$31 is a good price, but we’ve left him out this time.

(7) Encap ($126.00)

Hit the line well enough last time out, but he’s not up to this level of racing.

(8) Autumn Glow (Best Bet – $1.30)

The star of the autumn, so she is well-named. Scored a tough win over Aeliana last time out when making it a perfect 10-from-10.

She is an absolute beast on the racetrack, and although $1.30 is a short price, we don’t think she will come under threat.

Include her multis and anchor her in multiples.

(9) Lady Shenandoah (Best Each Way – $10.00)

There is a world where Lady Shenandoah beats Autumn Glow, and this is her best chance. She won her only start over the distance, and she’s unbeaten at Rosehill.

Her two placings this preparation were good efforts without a heap of luck, and she will be finishing off stylishly, so the favourite needs to ensure she kicks away.

The $1.88 to place is a good price to include in picks.

(10) Beiwacht ($18.00)

Strong run for second behind Joliestar last time out, and he should benefit with the increase in distance.

Drawn wide, so he’ll likely drop back, and although making ground could be tough, he’s a live first four chance.

(11) Attica ($61.00)

Nothing wrong with his form this prep, but as a three-year-old, he doesn’t get well in on the weights. Look for him to win something later this season.

(12) Nepotism ($251.00)

His form this season isn’t good, and he might be looking for something much easier now.
