Oyster Lane showed good potential last preparation when placing in three consecutive runs at Caulfield, Flemington, and Moonee Valley.

That’s strong form for a maiden race at Geelong, and he placed behind some quality stakes types, so we thought he would be paying around $1.90.

He could put this field away with ease.

Celestra showed good speed when running third on debut at Sandown, and although she didn’t fire last time out, she’s better than that.

The three-year-old filly by I Am Invincible didn’t have all favours when knuckling at the start, which put pay to her chances.

Punters should expect a much better effort here.

Race 3. (14:30) Connecttel Maiden (1525m)

#10 – Missy Aggravation @ $4.20

The three-year-old filly might have finished sixth on either side of a spell, but we expect quick improvement on Tuesday.

She hit the line with good purpose at Mornington last time out over 1200m, so rising to 1525m should help her chances of winning.

Each-way odds are available in an even field, so include her in picks.

Race 4. (15:00) Gawk Maiden (2440m)

#2 – Phoenician @ $3.40

Punters did their dough with Phoenician last week, but being on the quick back-up could see him score an overdue win.

The four-year-old son of Toronado owns six placings from 18 starts, including a third placing at Pakenham on Friday.

#6 – Wittelsbach @ $5.50

Wittelsbach showed good form earlier this preparation when scoring at Tamworth and Wyong, and she should find this easier than recent racing.

The four-year-old mare by Dundeel owns three wins from 12 starts, and she was good enough to run at Randwick two starts back.

We’re taking the double-figure odds in New York Scandal, who didn’t fire at Echuca last start, but that followed back-to-back second placings.

The six-year-old mare by Manhattan Rain owns three placings from three starts at Geelong, so the $3.10 to place is also a good bet.

She’s a good each-way bet, especially with the 3kg claimer riding.

Tom Dabernig lines up Ultra Blue, who looked good when winning last preparation, and his efforts this preparation have been solid.

The four-year-old son of Blue Point ran third at Warrnambool two back, and he should find this slightly easier than the last start.

Getting 3kg off is ideal, so include him in picks.

Mark Walker lines up Astari, who won at Traralgon in November before adding placings at Pakenham and Cranbourne.

The three-year-old gelding by Starspangledbanner is in good hands, and Mick Dee is riding well, so that adds to our confidence.
