Silver Wedding heads to Queensland in search of easier racing, and this race looks right up her alley.
The Ciaron Maher-trained mare owns a win and a placing from eight starts, and she comes off a sixth at Rosehill behind Weeping Woman, who has since won again.
The form checks out, so her her on top.
Stake: 2 Units
Thinkhardandfast was too good for them at Sunshine Coast last week, and she could go back-to-back in seven days.
The Matt Currie-trained mare won by 1.5 lengths in this grade, and she hasn’t been punishing too much in the weights, especially with a 3kg claimer riding.
That should be enough to see her fight out the finish.
Stake: 1 Unit
Margot’s Deel is a two-time winner this campaign, including last time out at Eagle Farm in firm conditions.
The four-year-old daughter of Dundeel is bred to be handy over this distance, and she could keep rising through the grades.
Look for her to settle off the pace and come with a big late effort.
Stake: 1 Unit
Corfe Castle went close when running second at Doomben last time out, and he’s our bet to go one better on Saturday.
The six-year-old son of Better than Ready owns three wins and four placings at the track, so he’s a course specialist.
It’s an even field, and with 3kg coming off, he can’t be underestimated.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Balance the Books is unbeaten after two starts, and we don’t think there are any runners in this field capable of beating her.
The four-year-old for Tony Gollan was heavily backed to win at $1.55 odds last start, and she didn’t let punters down.
Angela Jones rides, and the money will come again.
Stake: 3.5 Units
Mean Approach was much better when running third last start at Doomben compared to what he showed fresh up at Eagle Farm.
The five-year-old owns four placings from six starts at the track, so the overdue track win shouldn’t be too far away.
Getting 3kg off his back could be enough to turn the tide.
Stake: 1 Unit
Maher brings Zaszou to Queensland for a chance to win a good race, and she should be tough to hold out.
The daughter of Zoustar ran third at Randwick fresh up behind Estadio Mestalla, and that form should be too good for this field.
She could settle in the second half of the field before launching late.
Stake: 2 Units
Boomtown Boss owns five wins and two placings from 12 starts, including a good win at Eagle Farm to kick-start her preparation.
The Gollan-trained gelding has good second-up form, so the second-up syndrome shouldn’t come into play on Saturday.
Look for a betting push throughout the week.
Stake: 1 Unit
Perfect Play is only a three-time winner from 32 starts, but one of those wins came earlier this preparation at Kembla Grange.
Form in New South Wales typically stacks up well in Queensland, and he has been threatening to win after placing at Eagle Farm.
We’re happy to include him in picks at the odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Mister Bianco showed good form last preparation when winning three on the bounce, and that form could return on Saturday.
The Paul Shailer-trained gelding has yet to run a bad race at Doomben, and he typically hits the ground running in his prep.
Barrier three helps, so include him picks.
Stake: 1 Unit
