Metalart didn’t fire fresh up when fifth, but he was always going to need the fresh up effort.
The Kelly Schweida-trained gelding owns good second-up form, and he owns three wins and three placings from six starts at Doomben.
There’s nothing wrong with that record, so put him on top.
Stake: 2 Units
Punters get each-way odds for The Inflictor, who has been close this preparation with placings at Eagle Farm and Gold Coast.
The four-year-old son of Under the Louvre is a two-time winner at Doomben, and getting the inside draw is enough to win.
Take the odds before more money comes for him.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Sunrays lost no admirers when running second behind Beadman last start, and although 8.3 lengths behind, she hit the line nicely enough.
She looked good when winning her first three starts, and there is no Beadman in this field, so she should take advantage.
Take the $2.80 and include her in horse racing multis.
Stake: 3.5 Units
Appin Girl owns three wins and four placings from 10 starts, and she owns two fresh up wins, so the statistics read well.
The four-year-old daughter of Capitalist has yet to win at Doomben, but she has been close with two placings.
Getting in with 53kg should make her tough to hold out.
Stake: 2 Units
Amelita hasn’t always been the most consistent type, but the three-year-old filly ran second at The Valley two starts back.
The daughter of Zousain then ran seventh at Flemington behind Alabama Lass, who is a proven winner at the top grade in New Zealand.
Having James McDonald riding helps, especially from the wide barrier.
Stake: 1 Unit
Punters get value odds with Torobella, who hasn’t fired at her last two starts, but she’s much better than that.
The four-year-old mare by Toronado owns seven wins from 13 starts, including four wins from five starts at Doomben.
She can’t be left out with Craig Williams riding.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Polynmia is enduring a tough campaign, including running third in the Australasian Oaks last time out at Morphettville, but she has class.
The three-year-old filly drops in distance for this run, and that could see her turn-of-foot return, which was evident when winning over 1800m at Hawkesbury.
The each-way odds are too good to overlook.
Stake: 2 Units

We backed War Machine last start at Caulfield, and he didn’t let punters down with a 1.3-length win.
The four-year-old son of Harry Angel owns four wins from 11 starts, and running at Doomben shouldn’t worry him.
Blake Shinn rides, which adds to our confidence levels.
Stake: 2.5 Units
