Coonamble racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:55) Gilgandra Toyota Maiden (1400m)
#7 – Tainui @ $2.60
Looking to cap off consecutive second placings is Tainui, who placed at Armidale and Quirindi.
The three-year-old son of Astern showed good speed from the barriers last start and there is less depth to this maiden field.
Strong betting moves have come for the favourite.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 2. (13:35) WRA Rural Roundup C1 (1600m)
#13 – Casino Diva @ $3.80
Seeking back-to-back wins is Casino Diva, who was too good for them at Orange last time out.
The three-year-old filly by Casino Prince has gone through her gears this season, and now that the penny has dropped, she might kick on with it.
Carrying 55.5kg with Zac Lloyd riding adds to her appeal.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 3. (14:10) Geronimo Showcase BM66 (1600m)
#7 – Mrs Bull @ $7.50
Boasting two placings from two starts at Coonamble is Mrs Bull, who scored a win at Dubbo two starts ago.
The five-year-old mare by Shooting to Win is only a three-time winner from 42 starts but she does most of her best racing at the distance.
Given the odds, we’re happy to include her in picks.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (14:45) Dad&Dave Maiden (1100m)
#5 – Rail Trail @ $3.00
Rail Trail looks to go one better than his last-start second placing at Scone, which is a good form guide.
He hit the line nicely to finish a nose behind the winner behind Chica Del Mar, and something similar is good enough.
He’ll likely settle back and hit the line with a good turn-of-foot.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 5. (15:25) Conseth Showcase BM58 (1400m)
#1 – Patrick May @ $5.50
Patrick May isn’t the most consistent type going around but he comes off a win at Warwick and he could double down on that.
The eight-year-old gets a valuable 3kg off his back and that could be the winning of the race after carrying 62kg last start.
He’s a past winner at Coonamble, so we’re backing him.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 6. (16:05) Qube Agri Showcase C2 (1200m)
#5 – Nipper Bee @ $7.50
Nipper Bee is already a two-time winner this preparation, including a win at Gunnedah two starts back.
The five-year-old son of Supido didn’t fire at Walcha last time out but we prefer him running on a track like Coonamble.
Barrier four is ideal and he represents each-way value.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 7. (16:45) Evergreen Country Champs Qualifier C5 (1400m)
#13 – Poisen Point @ $11.00
Gallant Star is a $1.28 favourite in the race but Poisen Point is a better-value runner at $11.
The Brett Robb-trained filly owns two wins and three placings from eight starts, and he won back-to-back races at Dubbo this prep.
54kg on his back is ideal and punters get $2.30 to place.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 8. (17:25) Nutrien AG Solutions BM58 (1100m)
#2 – Where’stheprofit @ $3.00
Form is with Where’stheprofit, who started his career with consecutive wins at Mudgee and Narromine before running fourth at Taree.
The five-year-old didn’t handle the heavy conditions last start, but it was still a good run despite the conditions.
$3 is a fair price from bookmakers.
Stake: 2 Units
