The Bjorn Baker-trained son of Street Boss ran well for third on debut at Rosehill behind Fireball, who has since kicked on with it.

The opening $10 odds were ridiculous, so we’re not surprised by the betting move.

#10 – Strongside @ $18.00

Punters get value odds for Strongside, who is better than what he has shown in two runs this campaign.

The three-year-old gelding by Super Seth is bred to be handy, and he showed his ability with a win at Wyong last prep.

That came over Golden Century, so that form checks out. He’s a risky bet, but worth it at the price.

Race 4. (19:30) Quayclean BM78 (1900m)

#5 – Kenmare Bay @ $4.60

We backed Kenmare Bay a few times this prep and he hasn’t done much wrong. He scored a win at Canterbury three back before adding two placings at Randwick and Canterbury.

The four-year-old son of New Bay loves running at the track as a two-time winner, and he doesn’t need to improve much to beat this field.

The $4.60 odds could firm to around $3.90 on race night.

Race 5. (20:00) Toyota Forklifts BM72 (1250m)

#6 – Caesar @ $2.40

We expect big bets to come for Caesar, who hasn’t done much wrong throughout his career.

The three-year-old son of Capitalist owns two wins and two second placings from four starts, and his latest win at Canterbury came over Aisle Two, who won on Wednesday.

It’s a good form guide, so he goes clearly on top.

Race 6. (20:30) Schweppes BM72 (1200m)

#3 – Maybe Moet @ $3.00

Seeking back-to-back wins is Maybe Moet, who showed her class when scoring at Canterbury last time out.

The four-year-old daughter of Yes Yes Yes could progress to another level with a win on Friday, and the booking of James McDonald is a good sign.

The inside draw is ideal, and she’s a good bet at $3.

Race 7. (21:00) Kia Canterbury Night Series Final BM78 (1100m)

#1 – Bev’s Nine @ $2.70

Bev’s Nine looks to preserve his unbeaten after record after posting four wins from four starts.

The four-year-old gelding by Shalaa avoided a tough field last Saturday, and instead connection decided on a more suitable race.

It could pay off, and although 61kg is a big weight, it matters less over 1100m with McDonald riding.

Race 8. (21:30) Irresistible Pools and Spas BM72 (1550m)

#4 – Taipan Legend @ $5.00

Gunning for three wins on the bounce is Taipan Legend, who could take provincial form and turn it into city form.

The Cameron Crockett-trained gelding won his last two starts at Tamworth, with the most recent win coming by 3.5 lengths.

Based on that win, he’s a good chance to win.
