Race 1. (12:20) Canberra Racing on Saturday BM50 (1000m)
#2 – Noctua @ $1.95
The four-year-old mare owns a win and a placing at Canberra, with the win coming last time out as $1.45 favourite.
Punters get better odds this time around, and there isn’t much depth to this field, so she could take advantage.
Include her in horse racing multis.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 2. (12:50) Aspect Landscape Bushrangers BM60 (1000m)
#5 – La Signora Dane @ $1.80
We’re going with another short-priced favourite with La Signora Dane, who scored impressively last time out at Canberra.
The five-year-old mare by Star Witness won by 2.5 lengths and she’s a three-time winner at Canberra from only four attempts.
Getting the inside draw should make her awfully tough to beat.
Stake: 3.5 Units
Race 3. (13:25) John McGrath Auto C1 (2000m)
#5 – Ana Carolina @ $11.00
Ana Carolina scored an overdue maiden win last time out at Gundagai, and she’s good enough to kick on with it.
The four-year-old mare needs to get past the odds-on favourite, but there is much better value with Ana Carolina at $11.
Back her on an each-way basis.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (14:00) Tab Federal Maiden (1000m)
#9 – Wonderful Mistake @ $2.05
Money has come for Wonderful Mistake, who ran well for second at Canberra on debut.
The two-year-old filly by Flying Artie paid $9.50 when scoring, but we’re not surprised by the much shorter odds here.
She only needs a touch of luck from the draw to go close.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 5. (14:35) Carpet One Handicap (1300m)
#4 – Demanding Mo @ $4.20
Looking to cap off improving form is Demanding Mo, who went close when running second at Canberra last time out.
The eight-year-old has enough experience to handle this field, including six wins and 10 placings from 40 starts.
His best form comes here, so include at each-way odds.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 6. (15:10) Molonglo Juggernauts C2 (1400m)
#3 – Il Passero @ $3.00
Il Passero is already a two-time winner this preparation, including a one-length win at this track last start.
The three-year-old gets all favours off the inside draw, and he likes to settle on the speed and show a good kick in the straight.
Take the odds before money comes for him.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 7. (15:45) Polytrack Maiden (1400m)
#7 – Rufus Atticus @ $3.90
Rufus Atticus showed much better speed when running third fresh up at Canberra, which followed two tough runs in Sydney.
The Richard Litt-trained gelding was no match for Snitzanova and Zan in Sydney, but he might have found his level now.
His odds are worth taking before they shorten.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 8. (16:20) Canberra Southern Cross Tuggernanong Cup (1600m)
#8 – Good Prize @ $2.80
Boasting three wins from his last five starts is Good Prize, who put 2.8 lengths on The Right Rein last time out.
He has every chance of repeating the dose again on Friday, and it could be a good Friday for punters of Good Prize.
Carrying 55kg is ideal, so put him on top.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 9. (16:55) Tab Same Race Multi C1 (1200m)
#3 – Teylu @ $2.70
Form is with Teylu, who owns a win and four placings from five starts, so he’s yet to produce a bad effort.
The three-year-old son of D’argento has yet to finish worse than second at Canberra, and we can’t se that changing here.
Barrier two is ideal, so include him in picks.
Stake: 2.5 Units
