Blue Diamond Stakes Form Guide & Tips

(1) Unit Five ($7.00)

The Magic Millions winner, so he can’t be overlooked. That form doesn’t always stack up well in the Blue Diamond, but he was a strong winner.

If he gets luck from a wide barrier, a first four spot is up for grabs.

(2) Alibaba ($21.00)

A solid start to his career, including a good win two back. Close up last time out, but barrier 17 could put an end to his chances here.

(3) Closer to Free ($8.00)

He had the better run than Guest House last start, but it was a good way to kick off his career.

Tough to discount him based on that run, so he’s another first four chance paying each-way odds.

(4) Big Sky (Best Bet – $5.00)

He’s a foolproof colt with two wins to his name. He likes to lead, so that will be important, but drawing barrier five is ideal.

He has excellent barrier speed, and he should lead them up and hold on gamely.

(5) Guest House (Best Each Way – $5.50)

Nothing went right for him last time out when finishing a game second behind Closer to Free. It was a gutsy effort, and he could bounce back.

If his debut win is anything to go by, he wouldn’t look out of place as a Blue Diamond Stakes winner.

(6) Eternal Warrior ($13.00)

Not too far behind the first two home last start, including Closer to Free and Guest House. However, he’ll likely drop back from the wide draw and be asked for too much.

(7) Milsons Point ($41.00)

A solid start to his career, but he’s yet to face this level of opposition, and the odds tell the story.

(8) Eurocanto ($81.00)

He had his chance last time out when running eighth. Barrier 18 doesn’t help his cause.

(9) Zambales (Best Roughie – $18.00)

Second behind Hard Kick last start, who would have been our top selection in this race. That form should hold up well, and the $18 odds are worth taking.

(10) Invincible Son ($61.00)

Two starts for two placings, but it’s hard to see him win this race.

(11) Ghana’s Akan ($19.00)

A lot to like about her second placing behind Fireball in Sydney last start. Sydney form usually holds up well, so we’re happy to include her in picks.

She could be a big firmer with bookmakers on race day.

(12) Streisand ($13.00)

She was a strong winner last time out when given the right run in transit. That’s encouraging, so she goes into first four picks.

She can be a funny girl at times, but back-to-back wins wouldn’t shock us.

(13) Torture ($91.00)

She went to New Zealand and finished third in the Karaka Million. It’s not the strongest form guide, hence the long odds.

(14) Lady Moscato ($27.00)

She had no luck when being caught wide last time out. An interesting runner for the Waterhouse/Bott stable, who will likely roll forward.

She gets every chance from an inside barrier, and the $27 is juicy enough to take.

(15) I Am Aria ($35.00)

Two placings so far, and a win won’t be far away. However, it’s unlikely to come at this level.

(16) Chayan ($31.00)

Second on debut behind Streisand. A solid effort, but she’s another drawn in the car park, which won’t help a youngster.

(17) Stretan Ruler ($81.00)

Yet to win a race and that’s unlikey to change.

(18) Almost an Angel ($126.00)

A good winner on debut before showing nothing second-up. Can’t have her on that effort.

(19) Tough Romance ($81.00)

A debut winner against much easier opposition. Likely to struggle if he gets a run.

(20) Jacaranda ($31.00)

A slim chance of winning if she got into the field, which we can’t see happening.
