The four-year-old son of Squamosa wasn’t far behind Candy High with 59.5kg on his back, and the winner carried 55.5kg.

It’s not an easy maiden field but the $6.50 odds make him a worthwhile bet.

The Archie Alexander-trained filly owns six placings from six starts, including a third placing at Geelong last start behind Frozen Tide.

It was a strong run in defeat, and rising to the mile only helps her chances of breaking through.

Value is with Merchant of Greece, who could return from a spell with a big effort for trainer Andrew Forsman.

The three-year-old ran sixth on debut before placing at Kilmore over 1207. He likes to lead, and that adds weight to his chances of winning.
