Benalla racing tips
—
Race 1. (14:00) Lakeside Conveyancing Maiden (1206m)
#7 – Betwitchery @ $2.20
Betwitchery showed pace during her first campaign, including a second placing at Kilmore two starts back.
The three-year-old daughter of Blue Point owns two placings from four starts, and running at Benalla on a Monday is an easier task.
The money has come for her, so she goes on top.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 2. (14:30) Ultimate Refrigeration Maiden (1106m)
#5 – Paparazzo @ $3.30
Paparazzo opened his account with placings at Wangaratta and Wodonga before spelling, and he could come back a stronger type.
The Craig Wedding-trained gelding has been prepared with two solid jumpout efforts, including a win, so he’s a pacy type.
Getting the inside draw could be all he needs to break through.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 3. (15:00) Royal Hotel Benalla Maiden (1406m)
#7 – Squagaga @ $9.50
Squagaga isn’t always the most consistent type running around, but we’re happy to take the odds available.
The five-year-old son of Squamosa ran third at Kyneton last time out, which is one of the better form guides for this race.
He should give punters a good sight at the odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (15:30) Bet365 BM58 (1406m)
#2 – Absolute Sunshine @ $2.20
Absolute Sunshine looks to make hay after consecutive placings this preparation at Ballarat and Ararat.
The Hayes-trained gelding is taking his time to win another race, but there isn’t much depth to this field, and he could take advantage.
Getting 1.5kg off his back helps, and we’re not surprised by the odds.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 5. (16:00) Ken King Thoroughbreds BM58 (2100m)
#1 – Ashau Valley @ $5.00
Each-way value is with Ashau Valley, who owns three wins and seven placings from 18 starts.
The four-year-old gelding by Outreach is unbeaten in two starts at Benella, and that’s his best asset for this race.
We’ll happily take the $5 available considering that stat.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 6. (16:30) Mulwala Water Ski Club BM64 (1606m)
#10 – Super Solar @ $3.50
Super Solar is an experienced type with 65 starts for seven wins and 22 placings, including two wins from three starts at Benalla.
The seven-year-old son of Makfi has been around the mark recently, posting three consecutive placings earlier this prep.
Something close to those runs should see him win.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 7. (17:00) Burtons IGA BM64 (1206m)
#6 – Fire Tribe @ $3.60
Fire Tribe ran well without winning last campaign, with those runs all coming in New South Wales.
The four-year-old gelding by Contributer has been prepared with a trial placing at Bendigo, and he looks ready to go on Monday.
Dropping to 56.5kg only helps his cause.
Stake: 2 Units
