Ballarat racing tips
—
Naitanui did well to run second on debut at Geelong behind Esquel, which was a good showing.
The three-year-old son of Per Incanto paid $3.40 on debut, and punters should expect similar odds this time around.
Barrier three with Luke Currie in the saddle helps.
Stake: 2 Units
Oceansprint comes off a trial win at Caulfield, which should be a good form guide for this race.
The two-year-old gelding by Blue Point comes from the McEvoy stable, who often get their juveniles up and running early.
Barrier two is ideal, so include him in horse racing picks.
Stake: 2.5 Units
James Cummings is another trainer that gets his runners up and going early, and the jumpout win is a good form guide.
The two-year-old colt by Brazen Beau is bred to be handy early, and winning a jumpout at Flemington bodes well for racing at Ballarat.
If he gets luck from out wide, he should go close.
Stake: 1 Unit
Looking to go one better than her debut run is Simply Outrageous, who finished second at Ararat behind Bold Strike.
That should be a good form guide for this race, and there isn’t much depth to it, so he should capitalise on the maiden field.
We expect money to come for her on race day.
Stake: 2 Units
Hazel Baby has good fresh up form with four starts for a win and placing, and she could turn her form around on Sunday.
The five-year-old mare by Toronado ran second at her only start at Ballarat, and she has yet to finish worse than second over 1200m.
Getting 2kg off her back is another positive, so put her on top.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Electric Tommy looked good when winning on debut at Moe by three lengths before running sixth at Cranbourne last time out.
The three-year-old son of I Am Immortal was only 2.3-lengths behind the winner as a $2.15 favourite, so it was a solid effort in defeat.
He’s good enough to bounce back to winning form on Sunday.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Gunning for three consecutive wins is Amapola, who won at Kyneton before doubling down with a win at Mornington.
The three-year-old filly by Zoustar won both starts over this distance, so rising to around 1500m has been the catalyst for her form reversal.
Barrier 13 isn’t ideal but we’re sticking with the form runner.
Stake: 1.5 Units
We have backed El James at his last two starts, and although he failed to win, it’s only a matter of time before he wins.
The four-year-old owns three wins and two placings from six starts, including a win at his only start at Ballarat.
Barrier three is ideal, so he can’t be left out of selections.
Stake: 2 Units
Revolver is a consistent type with six starts for two wins and three placings, including a win at Geelong two back.
The four-year-old gelding by Proisir wasn’t far away at Warrnambool last start, and it should enjoy these conditions more.
We’re happy to include him in our each-way picks.
Stake: 1.5 Units
