—
Race 1. (13:00) Bet365 Odds Drift Protector Maiden (1600m)
#12 – She’s a Beauty
She’s a Beauty comes off consecutive second placings at Kilmore and Pakenham, which is a good form guide for this race.
She won’t take long to break maidens, and she won’t get too many better opportunities than this field on Sunday.
Paul Gatt rides and his experience could take her close.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (13:30) Tac Maiden (1200m)
#6 – Heff
Heff started his career with consecutive placings at Bendigo and Geelong before struggling at Sandown, but this race is more to his liking.
He has since been given a soft trial at Cranbourne to prepare for his return, and we expect to see money come for him.
He’s in good hands and the stable is going well.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 3. (14:05) Bairnsdale Paint Centre Maiden (1000m)
#1 – Brilliant Eight
Brilliant Eight turned his form around when running second at Warrnambool as a $1.60 favourite.
The former Hong Kong runner won’t take long to break maidens in Australia, and punters are likely to give him another chance.
Getting the inside draw gives him every chance to score.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 4. (14:40) Tim Bull for East Gippsland Handicap (1000m)
#4 – Master of Chant
The five-year-old gelding doesn’t win out of turn but we’re happy to give him another chance against this field.
He owns three wins from 26 starts, but one of those wins came at Mornington earlier this preparation, and something close would be good enough.
Barrier three is ideal and punters should get each-way odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 5. (15:20) Tesbury Jack Sprint Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Explosive Thinker @ $4.80
Explosive Thinker owns two wins and five placings from 14 starts, and most of his best efforts have come over the distance.
The Robbie Griffiths-trained gelding ran third at Caulfield two back behind Mytemptation, who is an unbeaten runner lining up on Saturday.
A repeat of that run sees him winning this race with ease.
Stake: 2 Unit
Race 6. (15:55) GMB Contractors Lindenow Cup (2200m)
#1 – Turn It Up Tommy @ $4.20
Turn It Up Tommy got back to winning form at Terang and we’re backing him to keep it going at Bairnsdale.
The six-year-old son of Tivaci has yet to race at the track, but the surface should be right up his alley, and it’s good to see betting support.
It will be a slog over the final 100m, and he could out tough them.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 7. (16:35) Bet365 Bairnsdale Cup (1600m)
#7 – Le Zebra @ $4.50
Le Zebra is struggling to win races but the four-year-old has more top-end ability than most in this field.
The son of Rip van Winkle scored placings at Flemington and Sandown before failing to fire last start, but a bounce back is calling.
If they go quickly up front, watch for him to storm over the top.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 8. (17:15) Club Eastwood Handicap (1600m)
#9 – Holly’s Star @ $8.50
Holly’s Star runs at each-way odds and we’re happy to snap them up on Sunday.
The four-year-old mare won at Moe two starts back and she comes off a jumpout win, so she’s ready to show her best.
The odds are generous and she has winning claims.
Stake: 1 Unit
