Arrowfield Stud Plate Form Guide & Tips
(1) El Vencedor ($6.00)
Money has come for El Vencedor, and he could figure in the finish, and he’s a past winner at Hastings.
It could pay to watch betting markets to see if more money comes for him.
(2) Puntura ($27.00)
He hasn’t shown much in two starts this preparation and we don’t think he’s up to this level.
He’s better to back during the winter months, where he owns 10 wins on rain-affected tracks.
(3) Mali Ston ($7.00)
Looking to cap off consecutive second placings is Mali Ston, who ran second behind Bonny Lass at Te Rapa last time out.
That’s a good form guide, and he’s included in our trifecta and first four picks.
(4) One Bold Cat ($18.00)
He wasn’t too far away fresh up against easier opposition, but he’s another winter specialist who might find this track too hard.
(5) Gospodin ($41.00)
We can’t find any reason to back him, especially after failing to fire a shot at Te Rapa in his latest run.
(6) Matscot ($41.00)
The seven-year-old is consistent, but we can’t see form from down south holding up at the Group 1 level at Hastings.
Wait for a better opportunity to profit with him.
(7) Master Marko ($41.00)
In the same boat as Matscot. Solid southern form, but it’s a few lengths behind those in the north.
(8) Saint Bathans ($41.00)
He was considered good enough to run in Australia. His form since returning to New Zealand has been solid without being great, so he’s on the thin end of first four calculations.
(9) Mustang Valley ($14.00)
She owns three wins from five starts at Hastings, but she’s a wet tracker through and through.
She has yet to win or place from eight starts on a good surface, so conditions might not be up her alley on Saturday.
Wait to see if there’s a betting push.
(10) Malt Time ($5.00)
Shooting for four wins from her last five starts, but is she a Ruakaka specialist?
She is running well, but we don’t think going the other way around helps her chances, so we’re prepared to leave her out despite the odds.
(11) Skew Wiff (Best Bet – $4.20)
She ran fourth in the first leg of the Triple Crown behind Grail Seeker, and she’s good enough to improve on that position.
The five-year-old didn’t show her best form in Australia, but she’s a classy type at her best, and having Opie Bosson in the saddle helps.
(12) Faragolini (Best Each Way – $5.00)
She ran a massive race for second in the first Group 1, and there’s nothing wrong with that form.
The daughter of El Roca owns two wins and three placings from six starts at Hastings, so she saves her best for this track.
We’re snapping up the each-way odds.
(13) Pearl of Alsace (Best Roughie – $13.00)
She didn’t show her best at Ruakaka behind Malt Time, but she was always going to need the fitness.
Returning to Hastings, where she owns a win and a placing, is ideal, and punters get value double-figure odds.
(14) Hi Yo Sass Bomb ($17.00)
She is another runner wanting wet conditions, and she could be outclassed in this race.
(15) Lightning Jack ($41.00)
His best racing is behind him and we can’t see him getting close enough.
(16) Rolls ($14.00)
Comes from Australia following a win at The Valley. Beware Australian form, so he could sneak into the minors.
