All-Star Mile Form Guide & Tips
(1) Mr Brightside ($2.45)
We haven’t put Mr Brightside on top but we’re not leaving out the favourite from our All-Star picks.
He’s a classy type and one of the best going around, but he was beaten in this race last year and he could suffer the same fate this time around.
The small field suits and he should be finishing in the first three.
(2) Tom Kitten (Best Each Way – $5.00)
Tom Kitten arguably should have won when running second behind Mr Brightside last start and he could improve with the run under his belt.
He has yet to fire in two attempts at Flemington, but having a longer straight to wind up should only help his cause.
We’re happy with the each-way odds available.
(3) Light Infantry Man ($15.00)
The six-year-old is one of the more inconsistent types going around, so it’s tough to get a guide on his winning chances.
The Group 1 winner at Ascot looked good two starts back, but he will need to improve to beat this field.
(4) Another Wil (Best Bet – $2.80)
Another Wil is a quality type who got the better of Mr Brightside fresh up and he could repeat the dose on Saturday.
Our All-Star Mile picks can’t leave him out as the top pick, and he’s unbeaten in three second-up starts, so everything points towards a win.
Getting the inside draw could see him control the pace and his odds are shortening.
(5) Flying Trapeze ($101.00)
He’s not up to this level of racing, hence the triple-figure odds. We expect him to settle back and never come into the race.
(6) Rise at Dawn ($18.00)
The four-year-old has a bright future after winning four consecutive wins, but we’re not sure if he’s up to this level of racing just yet.
We’re happy to include him as a first four pick, and if he elevates his game slightly, he could mature into a top-level type.
(7) Atishu (Best Roughie – $11.00)
The Chris Waller-trained mare is a proven Group 1 winner and she always needs a run under her belt to show her best.
Her second-up form of eight starts for three wins reads well, and she will likely settle just off the pace and emerge down the outside.
If they go quickly enough up front, she could finish over the top.
