The four-year-old mare by Pride of Dubai should enjoy the easier field after running third at $1.55 odds, and we’re not worried by the betting drift.

She should be tough to beat in the opener.

#2 – Donegal Bay @ $1.55

After posting three placings on the bounce, it’s about time Donegal Bay broke through for a maiden win.

The three-year-old son of Star Witness ran second at Albury last time out in heavy conditions, so he’s good enough to handle the track.

The odds are skinny, so include him in horse racing multis.

Race 3. (13:40) Wodonga Spring Works Maiden (1500m)

#2 – Blazing Sword @ $2.00

Blazing Sword is another runner nearing a victory after consecutive placings at Albury and Swan Hill.

The three-year-old gelding by Too Darn Hot battled gamely at Swan Hill, and coming back to Albury won’t do his chances any harm.

We’re not surprised by the shortening odds.

#6 – Imabarbiegirl @ $4.80

Imabarbiegirl has mixed form to start her career, but the three-year-old filly has enough ability to beat this field.

The daughter of Sooboog won at Queanbeyan three back and showed solid speed fresh up at Wagga last time out.

Something close to that could be good enough to score.

Race 5. (16:50) GPE Electrical & Communications BM58 (900m)

#13 – Magnolia Star @ $4.00

Magnolia Star turned her form around with a nice win at Albury when beating Donegal Bay, and that form could be franked earlier on the card.

The four-year-old mare by Denman owns a win and a placing at Albury, so she enjoys running on the track.

Getting 2kg off her back could see her win as the loose favourite.

Race 6. (15:25) Boss Better Living Systems BM82 (1400m)

#12 – Jannik @ $5.00

Looking to serve up another win is Jannik, who won two of his last three starts at Albury.

The four-year-old couldn’t have been more impressive last start when winning by two lengths and getting in with 55kg adds to his appeal.

We expect another solid effort at each-way odds.

Race 7. (16:05) North Albury Tyrepower BM58 (1600m)

#2 – Bellman @ $4.80

Bellman ran second behind Jannik two starts back before finishing second at Wagga last time out.

That’s a good form guide for this race, and although he’s struggling to get back to winning form, he’s good enough to handle this field.
