National Futurity Form Guide & Tips

(1) Magic Bandit ($3.90)

She is a must-include off the inside trap, and she could turn the tables on her rivals after finishing second at her last two starts.

The $3.90 is shorter than expected in a hot Group 1 field, but a top four finish is highly likely.

(2) Upended ($21.00)

She has amassed a nice record so far, but this race might be beyond her. She had her chance when second last time out, and the odds tell the story.

(3) Hotshot Lily ($7.50)

She comes in with seven wins from 13 starts, and we’re not leaving her out of our multiples at the current odds.

The draw isn’t ideal, but if she can cross the dog on her inside, she could sit right behind Magic Bandit and be there to strike.

She’s a handy each-way type.

(4) Ritza Tiana (Best Each Way – $4.40)

She has had only seven starts, but she has yet to finish outside the money. Her win last start came over Blue Labubu, and she did enough to impress us.

Our only worry is that she’ll likely get back in the run, but if the gaps appear down the back straight, look for her to finish over the top.

(5) Winsome Josie ($7.00)

Second behind Magical Ang in the heat, and that should be a good form guide. She is one of the more experienced greyhounds in the National Futurity, and that holds her in good stead.

She is another runner paying each-way odds with a winning hope.

(6) Magical Ang (Best Bet – $3.50)

With two of the best winning chances currently on the ballot, that leaves Magical Ang as the one to beat.

She is a six-time winner at the track and distance, and her career is heading in the right direction, so she could add a Group 1 win to her record.

The $3.50 is a fair price from bookies, and the odds will shorten if the 9 and 10 dog don’t get a run.

(7) Blue Labubu (Best Roughie – $20.00)

After finishing second behind Ritza Tiana at odds, we’re happy to include Blue Labubu in our first four bets.

She could follow Magical Ang across the field, and if she’s somewhere close to the speed, she is strong enough to fight out the finish.

(8) Before the Dawn ($8.00)

A solid heat winner, but she’s slightly under the odds for our liking. Drawing wide could make it tough, as there is a lot of speed on her inside.

(9) Eriza Sparkles ($2.80)

The current favourite but not secured a start in the final field. She is a massive chance if she makes the field, so bet accordingly if there is a scratching.

(10) Distinction ($3.80)

She is another strong winning chance, but we can’t see two runners coming out of a Group 1 race.
